*Official* West Indies in South Africa 2022/23

The SA problem here more than anything is lack of scoring shots... I`m not talking bazball. Its just the pitch is consistently doing something and not rotating strike and getting the board ticking, standing there blocking does not help in the long run. Its not easy. Particularly for a newish batting unit. And lets give WI their due, bowled much better this 2nd innings.

I love Coetzee's confidence, he is so uncomplicated which is so refreshing , he's like ****ing hell if it's there to be hit just klap it .

Feel sorry for Bavuma. I wonder how many batters have got pairs on captaincy debut. Good to see Markram opening and scoring runs
Definitely other captains who have claimed pairs, I’m yet to find one who did it on debut. (found one in his 2nd match, also for SA)

as @social said in the other thread, (to paraphrase), any chase in a fourth innings is tough even with a good batting lineup let alone a brittle one
but there is a door ajar

If South Africa can let a stunted fool like Kusal Perera dick them in the fourth innings, there's serious danger here

I'd be surprised if W Indies managed to get these runs, but the fact they've given themselves a chance makes for an interesting day. The SA batting line up seems to get worse the more it's tinkered with.

Shades of England 2019 and 2021 there, just without the best year of Stokes and the best year of Root.
