South African cricket, eh? They're like a mix between a cheetah and a sloth. They run fast when they need to, but most of the time they're just lounging around in the sun, taking it easy. I mean, I don't blame them, have you seen that South African sun? It's like a hot yoga class, but without the yoga.

It is a 7/4 split Muthusamy is a number 4 or 5 batsmen in provincial, just so happens his bowler is coming off as well he is 100% a batting allrounder.
My definition of 7/4 is six specialist batsman and a keeper batsman , I feel Muthusamy was played to accommodate a 4 man pace attack and the sacrifice of the specialist spinner Maharaj , he only averages 31 in FC cricket , that is not good enough to say batting is stronger than his bowling , you can get away with it in domestic cricket because of quotas there are some genuinely below average cricketers that make up the provincial sides

5 years ago he was treated as a bowler who could bat. In the last few season it is clear that he spent time working on his batting, and this can be observed in some of the runs he has started scoring in the last few seasons. His batting became a bigger priority under guidance of how he needed to improve and what his best chances of making the contribution to the teams (both his local and international possibilities).

Is he there yet, is a he a top 6 bat. Nobody is pretending he is. But he and Mulder bring the best chance to balance the test side with a good top 6 a solid 7 and 5 bowling options. The only other player is Linde and we have spoken about him being hard done by plenty. But also that he may have shot himself in the foot due to attitude. I don't think they have forgotten about him.

And finally and most importantly compared to the last 3/4 years of dire selection this is actual real progress and giving the right players a chance to prove themselves and build a team and squad for the future.

Elgar is a Home track bully just like Markram , so it's scant consolation because when we tour we will get found out because these two can't score in conditions they aren't used to .

Hard to fault SA today but Chase shouldn't be going at 1s, especially at Centurion. "Treat pie chuckers with utter disdain" should be what every team takes away from Bazball.

I agree with the sentiment but don’t think any SA batsmen will be taking chances until they are settled into a new lineup. And both these players have an ability to actually competently defend the ball and take pressure unlike say Crawley and co.

Valid points there but I think that teams can afford to be much more aggressive against nothing bowlers than they realise. Taking out one bowling option entirely has massive trickle down benefits.

Markram has the time to make 250, and WI’s attack is overrated. Never do anything away from home.

This is why I wanted six proper batsman in , this batting line up is a joke and has been for a long time, Rickleton should be in this side easily.
