Klaasens is considered the better wk, Rickelton is in the squad as a batsmen more than anything. He was never likely to get selected as the wk.

He clearly looks at Muthusamy and Mulder as batting allrounders. His claim was more clear about not playing Jansen at 7. Which is correct.

Centurion doesn't spin. In 5 matches Maharaj has only picked up three wickets at an average of 114.66. So Muthusamy is really there for his batting and just in case they need a spinner.

Muthusamy >>> Markram with the ball. And if for any reason you need the extra spin bowling would much rather have Muthusamy.

Probably not. But this is also about balance of the team. Muthusamy/Mulder at 7 as long term solutions depending on conditions. This is also about building a team and squad.

It might not be about whether or not a spinner is required for this specific match. I think what they may be trying to do is to set the template for the team going forward: 6 batsmen (including the keeper), 4 bowlers, and then a seam or spin all-rounder depending on conditions.
