is Markram now good enough to be that spin option? his bowling in LO cricket has improved a lot
I love Markram but Muthusamy is miles ahead as a bowler.is Markram now good enough to be that spin option? his bowling in LO cricket has improved a lot
I was close!Reading some of Conrad's comments it does seem like he has a very clear idea of how he wants the team to play and who he wants to play. It seems like he wants all the seamers to play in Centurion, and if he favours not having a 6-5 split then I have a feeling Muthusamy is going to play at 7. So something like:
1. Elgar
2. Markram
3. Peterson
4. Bavuma
5. Rickelton
6. Klaasen (wk)
7. Muthusamy
8. Jansen
9. Coetzee
10. Nortje
11. Rabada.
If there is 3 main seamers then you change Keshav and Mulder for Muthusamy and Coetzee.
Plays for the Dolphins now,so accurate SLA at Kingsmead will get you wickets. Seems to be playing the same role Muthusamy used too.Anyone know why JJ smuts has suddenly turned into a #8 fc bowling allrounder and seems to be having success doing it? Swear he was always a batting allrounder who bowled handy off-spin.
Kingsmead is a spinners paradise now and in February very hot and dry conditions..Subrayen is also eating batsmen for lunch. We need him in the national sideAnyone know why JJ smuts has suddenly turned into a #8 fc bowling allrounder and seems to be having success doing it? Swear he was always a batting allrounder who bowled handy off-spin.
30 is actually a gun age for a spinner tbh.Ja, I don't think Subrayen will get a look in, don't see him leapfrogging any of the current spinners in the squad.
Also, he turns 30 this year, think somebody like Kyle Simmonds will be more likely to get a look in.
Yeah for sure, just don't see him getting ahead of any of the current guys soon.30 is actually a gun age for a spinner tbh.
Proper chucker though. Sad because I kind of rate him, that aside.
Simmonds is a left arm off spinner, we have plenty of those , Maharaj , Fortuin , Linde , Simmonds, Parsons , Muthusamy ..Not a lot of right arm offies which works in Subrayens favor.Yeah for sure, just don't see him getting ahead of any of the current guys soon.
Ferreira has barely played any FC games , this current T20 series vs West Indies was the perfect opportunity to give him a cap as he is quite an explosive batsman, just to see what he's about but CSA don't think that way .Haven't been following the recent 4 day div 1 round crazy close but seems like some positive signs from a few young blokes based on the titans v warriors scorecard. Swanepool made 53* and took 6-fer, brevis made 46 in a 4th innings chase after coming in at a dicy point and ferreria made 116* to chase the total pretty comfortably in the end. Also seems like ferreria has worked on his bowling, 7 wickets in 4 innings in the fc stuff since his t20 stint. If he can pile on some runs and show some consistency at #7 could plug SA's hole in that spot in the test team.
Does it feel like SA are using this test series vs Windies as a bit of experimentation? They played Keegan out of position then binned him after one game for rickelton, just doesn't feel amazing. Im not a massive fan of the T20 squad either honestly. Persisting with the #7 being a bowling allrounders model after not making the semi's in the past 2 WC'S and choking majorly last time feels really stupid.Ferreira has barely played any FC games , this current T20 series vs West Indies was the perfect opportunity to give him a cap as he is quite an explosive batsman, just to see what he's about but CSA don't think that way .
