South Africa team selection

7 fer for b swanepool in the most recent games with 8 more wickets to take, currently tied with maharaj for most wickets in the season and has the most by a pacer by 5. Should be playing with SA soon, seems like a real talent. He can bat aswell, don't think he's an international #7 but would be nice to have the extra bit of batting 8 and under with jansen at 7.
I don't think shukri is going to go with jansen at 7 he said he wants a 7/4 split.

More importantly he has x-factor and anybody watching him can see that.
Do you need x-factor in an attack like SA's though? Ngidi-Jansen-rabada-nortje all offer different things, and they also have both a gun finger and wrist spinner, both of which can hold a stick.

Who is the gun wrist spinner that can hold a bat?

Other than they just dropped Ngidi for Coetzee... x-factor is exactly that, something extra that can turn a game.

Will be interesting to see if we play Coetzee as part of a 4 pace attack or play Maharaj or maybe fall back on the 6/5...

Conrad apparently wants to go 7/4 with an all-pace attack.

So, maybe something like:
Elgar
Sauce
Petersen
TB
Rickelton
De Zorzi
Klaasen
Jansen
Coetzee
Rabada
Nortje

I believe shukri sees mulder and muthasamy as part of the batting group.

It will be something like this

1.Elgar
2.Aiden
3.De Zorzi/Pietersen
4.Temba
5.Rickelton
6.Klaasen
7.Mulder/Muthasamy
8.jansen
9.Coetzee
10.KG
11.Nortje

If wanderers is still spinning as much as it did during the sa20 then a spinner will come into it next week.

If he sees Muthusamy as part of the batting group then he needs to be sectioned.

I think he will play Mulder at 7. Question is will he drop Maharaj for Coetzee. Brave man if he does.

Gonna stick up for my boy here. I think he could be a serviceable 7 if a spin-bowling allrounder is what Sukri wants. As stated before I would have went with Linde though.

Yup, not sure what the issue with Linde is. But I know he basically said he doesn't want to tour if he's not going to play so maybe he's not seen as a team man.

Yeah he's not really a batsman but it's not like batting Jansen at 7 either.

Yeah, Muthusamy does at least have a number of first-class centuries to his credit and bats top 6 domestically. And I can see where they might be going with him. If it's a pitch that's not going to be too helpful to spinners but you don't want to do away with a spinner entirely then picking the one who bats the best makes some sort of sense.
