*Official* Australia in India 2023

other nations cbf.

Sadly this.

Unfortunately unless the nation hosting is playing nobody will go the world test final, Australia v India in England should have some interest, anywhere else not so much sadly..

It sucks but having England as hosts makes the most sense financially.

I guess Oval does gives India a bit of a chance.. If it is a typical Oval pitch India would like to bat first... And hope for a Aussie implosion in 4th inns.
I don't know if they will play Ashwin. Jadeja is MVP. He did it with both bat & ball in Oval Test win vs Eng.
They need to somehow get Pandya in there as a 4th pacer over Shardul ( who is a dud these days) & ask him to bowl 10-12 overs at max.

Kela does has a good recent record but him in a ICC KO is known conclusion.
Gill has failed both in first two tests in England... Both one off games though. He is now a better player but surely he is a middle order player. Maybe ask Gujara to open & eat the new Duke.
Don't waste a quality stroke maker to the new ball.

Total fluky line up as of now. Aussies much superior in those conditions.
Regarding Gill, India have to start thinking about the future. The batting line up is pretty old so they may as well give Gill some opportunities and hope he can figure it out overseas. It may be a waste of time but they have to start investing in these younger guys outside their comfort zone of Asia.

Regarding younger batsmen who do Indian posters think have the best chance to score runs overseas?

Thought about bumping this thread but it’s already locked

It’s still Smith’s SA since they traveled far better; but they also lost at home more often than I would have liked.

India’s ridiculous home streak on the other hand continues..

If we win WTC and win Test series in SA ,We can be contender . But as of now RSA are ahead.

Whatever it takes!!!
I am not sure about favorites etc but I think I will be disappointed if we lost, and esp lost easily, in England against this Australian side. Their batting is really not that good and for all the talk about how Langer was holding them back, I honestly think they are actually not that good.

I guess some people will only get a reality check when India does lose by 10th of June.

Will be so underprepared and get blown away by an Australian team looking to avenge their 3-0/4-0 defeat in India.

Cummins & Smith opted out of IPL this year. Australia will be ready. They hardly have test players in this year's IPL, unlike India. In fact they are playing county cricket.

For instance, there's a big difference between Australian performance in 1st test and 2nd test! They came in cold for the 1st test and stood no chance. India similarly will go in cold and will learn it the hard way.

Last time, India had an England tour 1 month later so they stayed there and got acclimatised and thus played the best they had done in England in a long time! This is what match practice & acclimatisation does!

Going into WTC final straight from IPL will not be fun to watch!
That's because conditions determine the outcome of the result more than any other sport! And for anyone claiming (again) that England is a neutral venue for Ind/Oz how about we have a final in UAE then ?

You still won the toss like 18(19?) times out of the last 20, what happens when you don't? Will there be just as much improvement as you think there ought to be?

A full strength Oz bowling attack would've made the first test interesting & as we've seen with Oz in India unless they start well they've rarely competed in the last 30 odd years. Also as some others have pointed India do have a mental edge over them.

Gill already has some experience overseas, all he needs is a consistent run in the side as the opener

tough to say who might be good overseas without them playing at a higher level internationally atm and that’s the issue. they’ve debuted a gazillion dudes in white ball teams but none of them are long term solutions in the test team and they are being too stubborn with the current test team leaving us little choice but to throw someone in the deep end if the **** hits the fan

Gill is more a 3 or 4 than opener

there’s no opener waiting in the wings for Rahul

there’s no replacement for Kohli yet abroad

why the **** is Gill more a 3 or 4 than opener. he rarely if at all plays there but because he looks classy with his shots and atm struggles vs swing he is doomed as an opener and should move from his preferred position and learn to play in a new role 8-) ofc he also isn't that good against spin straight off but that is conveniently forgotten because he looks classy and classy batsmen must always be at 4 in India

if only we stopped with this nonsense of shoehorning players into certain positions because predecessors with similar styles happened to play in them....

and there's plenty of openers waiting in the wings and tail for Rahul. for starters how about Gill? if we don't select new players for these turds in the team and play them there won't be replacements for them in the first place

disagree...s.a in s.a has our number for some weird reason...
we've just played them at unfortunate times. if AB had retired we could have won that 2018 series as he was the difference with the bat. we were exhausted and missing a few players in the last tour there too. these are excuses and its fair to blame the team for playing badly in two series but i expect us to at least come back with a draw in the next series there

Makes you appreciate how darned difficult it is to pull off the bald look. Agar's case is particularly tragic/jarring. Guy still has a reasonably aesthetic face but the skull size makes him look like Jadoo from the Bollywood movies.
Ashton not even the best looking Agar brother tbh.

It'll probably be 1-1 but hoping for 2-0

India’s achilles heel has been NZ tour tbh.. That’s where we struggle most out of any tour..
