*Official* Australia in India 2023

There's something very wrong with him when he fields at slip on pitches like these. Whether he's not concentrating or his technique is just wrong I don't know but it's going to be so difficult to catch anything low because of how upright he is and how quickly he rises.
Jarrod kimber said something about how older batters can't crouch as much as slip and so have to stand upright due to back issues and how that can affect your ability to take catches vs the spinners in the subcontinent in particular, could be something to do w/ that?

That wouldn't surprise me at all.

Australia has a significant advantage with India batting last on this track…I am predicting 1-1 at the end of this one.

KL Rahul needs to be removed from test team and 20 20 team, he does have a possible chance to stay in one day team with his impressive record of 44 average but we need a break down of how many of those runs where against poor teams.

I think Australia's chance ended when they failed to get a sizable lead. This counter attack while good will not sustain. My prediction is that they will race to 100 for nothing and then lose a clump of wickets and eventually set 180-220 ish something and India will get there this time with their top order actually performing. Never wanted to be proven wrong my life obvs
Is there a reason you decided to go full halba today

People continue to underrate Head. He averages over 50 in the last 2 years at a SR around 80.

I’ve even read comments around the traps after his performance yesterday “He’s doing great in India, but he can’t open against the moving ball in England”

Heads GABBA innings against the SAF attack on that pitch was one of the best knocks of 2022.

The Indian commentators really got up my goat as well, they kept mentioning he had never opened the batting in any form of cricket yesterday, yet completely overlooked his ripping form doing it in white ball cricket

Head opening in England would be silly, tbf. Should obviously be in the team though.

I don’t think so.

His game “clicked” when he started opening for South Australia in the Marsh Cup. The rest is history. It’s quite possibly his natural position.

Hes definately no worse than any other option, it would also be a case of fighting with fire with the current England setup.

Head like Gilchrist and Warner (a decade ago) canchange test matches in a session. Which he’s done multiple times in the last 18 months now.

Really need Labu or Smitty to hang around and bat some serious time. Head might give us a quick start but we need to let the pitch deteriorate more too

He could try Bazballing them. I don't think he'd be any less technically suited to opening in england than Crawley.
Yeah but Crawley isn't very effective either.

I can definitely see the argument for Head being better than Warner and any other opener candidate not already in the side, but we can't clone him - if he opens then he's lost from the middle order where I think his counter-attacking could be really valuable.
