All is not lost for New Zealand. There's still time for our NZ brethren to find bazball. For a small fee I can send you a pdf of the scriptures. There's even hope for the tortured souls of Flem of this domain, and Ian Smith off the box.
I don't want Bazball. I just want a fit and healthy Kyle Jamieson.

Blundell had earned that wicket keeping spot after years of being back up, had three quiet tests and the replacement was rolled into the squad. Like what happened with a few others except Blundell scored runs from his fourth keeping test onwards and saved his spot.

I do find it interesting how some players are given ropes that are several years long, the likes of Young, Ajaz, Ravindra get one or two tests before they're gone.

Also if Blundell had have been dropped I'd argue Cleaver deserved that spot, not Fletcher.
There should be an independent review into how things are run. Don't want to state what one of the former player said about the way things are run,. I don't want to believe it but after this season it should be looked at. Some of the decisions since a while is very strange to say the least.

It is just so dumb. We won the toss and gifted England the best batting and bowling conditions. We also picked an attack with the wrong makeup to succeed when we had favourable bowling conditions last night which we only got on the back of a brilliant Blundell innings.

If Ben Sears were fit he'd make my XI - we need to get some young blood into the seam attack now rather than in 3 years time when southee and Henry hang up their boots. Even if he isn't ready, clearly neither are the seasoned pros who have been called up. Yeah Tickner showed something in this second innings but he's just not up to it overall. He seemingly has the tools (height, some pace) yet doesn't instill any confidence. Like a test version of Adam Milne.

Latham
Ravindra
Conway
Williamson
Young
Phillips
Blundell+
Shipley/Sodhi
Henry
Southee
Lister

Sodhi if it looks to spin otherwise slow bowling shared between Phillips and Ravindra. Lister for some left arm variation amongst the Legion of right armers. I'd actually be keen to start building a side around youngner players like Foxcroft, Sears and Ravindra to manage the transition. Much like Southee and Williamson debuting during the dark times. Even if punts on 30 something blokes has worked out ok in instances for the team short term, it's just been kicking the can down the road. We've had the luxury of some stalwarts in the side for a decade but we tend to forget they debuted aged <25. Imagine if we gave Williamson as little rope as we have did with Ravindra.

No way for anyone younger to get in as yet. Ben Sears is looked at by this management as a t20 specialist. Go figure...

The senior players will not let youth come in unless they get handsome t20 leagues offer.

We've got Australia and South Africa (again) coming here for 2 tests each in 12 months. Australia wouldn't throw wickets away like England (more ruthless with the bat) as we could be absolutely destroyed. Vettori will bring intel to the Aussie camp just like all the NZers have to the English camp. I know there is a huge focus on the ODI WC but there also needs to be a clear plan on strategy, revitalisation of an aged and stale team along bowling makeup for the test team.

England are aiming to have 8 or 9 decent seamers for the Ashes. What are our aims?

I think it's time to realize we've hit the road bump. As much as I want to talk up our side there's got to be a reason we haven't won in like 10 test matches.

Not easy to replace ross, CDG, boult, Jamieson and henry.

That said got to get on but need some freshness in thinking and likely personnel.
Got to replace Wagner now too.
Blundell has done amazingly as Watling's replacement though.

The best thing about Bazball is eventually other countries will probably adapt it and do it better than England like literally every other sport they've ever invented and then sucked at for a century.

Enjoy it now lads, because you'll be back in the gutter in a few years.
You may be right......but better to be pioneers than the followers yes? Sometimes Eng are good and sometimes we're very ****.......but I'll take our rep over being the little plucky ***** that sometimes punch above their weight.
