*Official* Australia in India 2023

Yeah that's a nothing tail if that's what's picked. Was a real problem in 2017
The thing about tough overseas tours is that decent lower order bats often turn into rabbits anyway. It's one of the reasons winning away is so hard. Australia definitely need to pick a specialist #6 now that Green is out, but I'm not sure the difference between someone of Agar batting standard or Murphy batting standard will actually play out as significant in the way that it could at home.

Spent some time watching highlights of the last tour. Superb series, was really helped by the fact that every pitch played so differently.

This really was an excellent series. Good mix of quality & clown cricket, memes, controversy, no dead rubbers, no borefests, different conditions. Great stuff.

I do actually think diehard cricket fans rate them similarly at a minimum but in terms of what matters to the broader cricket watching public it's not even close, Ashes is orders of magnitude bigger.
From a player perspective, Smith at least rates winning in India ”bigger”.

He lacks emotions though so probably doesn’t get the occasion of the Ashes.

India is as hard as to win than Ashes. both are equally tough with near 41 year old veteran Jimbo(anderson) and co basically unplayable on Dukes balls. As old as he is, he is still very unplayable, probably can play well into his 40s.

Nah, a few teams have won and drawn in England in the time that India has won every series at home. India is definitely the toughest challenge atm, though Australia seems to be even tougher for non India teams if you just look at margins of defeat.

Whatever it takes!!!
tbf if you have a swing at someone and they immediately call you a bigot or a racist regardless of what you've said to them, it does tend to inflame things just a little.
tbf, if what is said is not bigoted or racist, it would help deflame things just a little too.

Yeah, am surprised too. though tbh it's a bit of an aggressive move to pick the better bowler over a bloke who isn't as good with the ball but who has a test 90. So from that pov it suggests they're backing themselves.
Its what we tended to do few times including the Perth test in 2018. It can go either way tbh but if they are playing someone because they are the better spinner when you got only part time back-up as Green is not playing, it seems a pretty sensible thing to do.

Cummins batting has been junk for a while tbh. I wonder if they're thinking of running with Carey at six, Agar at seven, including Murphy and playing Cummins with the new rock partnered by Marnus in the role of Stan McCabe.
*in the role of Sunil Gavaskar.

Its a real win if we get a team like Australia to play with just one fast bowler, tbh.

But I think it will be Cummins, Boland, Lyon, Murphy as the attack and it willl be fine. Both sides will play 2 seamers. We will have the allrounder and you wont. Its all gonna boil down to the batting of both sides. Remember Australia could not make 200 for a while against our attack even in Aus in the 20-21 BG series. It could be that. bad here too.

On our side, I would drop Rahul and play both Gill and SKY. I dunno if they would, though. Seems like Dravid is back to his galaxy-brain stuff, so be prepared to see Rahul line up as the keeper and batting 5 with SKY at 6. But most likely, it will be:

Rahul
Rohit
Pujara
Virat
Gill
Jadeja
Bharat
Axar
Ashwin
Shami
Siraj

I had put the same side as yours couple of pages earlier. That should be the side to take the field tomorrow.

Also, on the above, I think it will all boil down to how good Steve Smith is. The series result majorly hinges on his performance.

but if it’s your only go to - to misrepresent any contrary point because you are too fragile to handle it, then you will always inflame things and then disingenuously wonder why.

Cummins has made one score above 30 in the last 3 years and that was in a score of over 500

Lyon is a genuine 10 while Boland & Murphy are complete bunnies

That’s bad
Murphy is not a complete bunny. Not sure he'd be much use with the bat in India but he's always been a useful bat
