Cummins has that rare aura about him where every single time he bowls you expect him to be brilliant, because he pretty much always is. He's not quite regularly run through teams like Ambrose/Steyn going full crazy eyes, but he's one of the most shockingly consistent cricketers I've ever seen. The longevity argument matters less for bowlers who don't quite have the same variance batsmen do (who all go through extended runs of great/mediocre form). Cummins isn't going to start averaging 35 all of a sudden unless he has some Waqar like injury.

Reasonably confident he's among the top 5 best quick bowlers I've seen.
More like an upgraded version of Lillee.

It's Cummins or Pollock but it's really hard to pass up the force of nature that was Shoaib. It feels criminal to turn such extreme talent down but he had more off days than the former two.

Isn’t one of Lillee’s big things that he was always taking big hauls and running through teams?
Cummins has always been world class in my book, but his performance in Pakistan made me rank him up higher. The kind of reverse swing he was getting there where all Pakistani bowlers struggled to do the same was phenomenal.

Poll is an absolute shambles mate. Where's my man Big Phil?

Had more Tests played than all the guys above him in average too, except for McGrath.
He should be disqualified from consideration by default simply on the basis that he picked and chose when he wanted to play, or he was dropped from the team because the pitch was unfavourable to him.

I heard about the one time he was dropped for this reason, later in his career. That he voluntarily didn't play in a Test while fit, is something I've never heard of though.
