I've got two guys right now who are auto pick if available, and then if not, three different decision tree branches I can go on, depending on who actually got selected. And watch, 20 picks from now when it's my turn again, 90% of that planning will be completely inapplicable.

Since Patience is at the top end in runs, yes, you can do that. But if not, you need to check if he is not an all-rounder whom patience can pick in terms of runs.

If he is a pure bowler, you can go ahead and pick now.
