Not a bad over, against a former Jurite too!
Wow ty for noticing that - i had not spotted it - poor old Bell - he did good things for Jura back in the day - what a humiliating return that must have been for him - 43 off the over - almost impossible and a not so bad 5.5 / 10 an over

About to begin our CWC against the Asian Kings!!

Mooo will have a target of 257 to chase against ZCC

GG will have a target of 224 to chase against the Wild Geese.

I think GG can knock off their target, while Mooo will have a hard time pursuing theirs

I think I'm done with Sampath. Large enough sample size at this point to suggest his output is not proportional to his skills/salary. Good T20 bowler but an active liability in OD stuff. I don't think we can afford to carry a bowler who is only good in the last 3rd of the innings and nowhere else.

Sampath just doesn't fit our bowling attack. I need my quicks to bowl early in the innings. The only way to make Sampath useful is he bowls all his 10 after over 25 or something. His bowling lost us the game today. He averaged 81 in the SOD League last year.

Ghani is a bit crap too but atleast he can bat, he's a fifth bowler and does a job for that. Bashir and Chester are decent and Rockall/Naeem do a job filling in when conditions demand it. Sampath is just crap, supposed to be our best quick but is a real waste of wages.

I'll try out a new set of bowling orders to see if we can get anything useful out of him, but yea he's close to going up on the TM. If I find a better option on the markets I'll probably sell him.

Should probably sell the entire lot and just invest in the dev kids instead. Will hold off on that once our relegation to SOD Div 3 is confirmed.

Jura and Geese have hit their straps recently (which makes me ask - if you team is going well do you get some kind of boost in the same way that the crowd gets a boost? - or is that just reflected in touch?) anyway probably stupid to say it as we will now surely experience a nosedive in form

I thought the Goose was cooked against GG - 223 did not seem enough - they kept us under the thumb and we didnt even see out our overs. GG looked to be cruising along at 5 an over after 30 overs and just needing another 70 off the last 20 with 7 wickets in hand but then they just couldn't get a partnership going and Seville started reverse swinging it at 90 mph - so I count myself lucky on that one

Against Ataraxla - well no-one could accuse the manager of springing a surprise on us - dry pitch 4 spinners and a fast bowler  exactly as he said!

Richardson opened for them and play a brilliant innings - Dee supported but was a tad slow and was disappointed to see the back of him when we ran him out and would have preferred a throw to the other end!
I managed to roll out 3 spinners and was sweating a bit on two military medium pacers , Marwick is pretty skilful but Gopalan is an A/R - in the end no one got too caned so 236 was achievable on paper though tough with those 4 spinners to come out of the pavillion

We started so slowly - and even our Top bat Palanth could only make progress at 3 rpo and then any platform was lost with a couple of quick wickets so after 27 overs we were 87/3 (3.22 rpo) needing 150 off 23 at 6 and a half an over- with the opener Sampson struggling along it seemed at a strike rate of just 3.5 rpo.

Hanley and Ramsey chanced their arms and just about got away with it and must have shouted at Sampson as he scored his next 50 off 58 balls. From a distance it looked like a smoothly planned acceleration but in reality we were 1 ball away from defeat until the last 5 overs

Really enjoyable games (I just mean in terms of closeness and twists and turns)

I expected Mooo to lose and they didn’t,

the opposite happened for GG. They are not doing well in this version of CWC
It's early days yet and 10 teams have a XPV ranking of 50k plus so plenty of possibilities for everyone beating each other and with so many matches each week the table changing - especially as JoJo expanded the knockouts to 6 to keep a lot of ongoing interest for everyone - liked you said for 90% of our game you looked the favourites and there's not much one can do about that sort of randomness

Good summary, disappointing for us to lose that to be honest. Right now our pitch seems too kind even – really the military mediums should be sporting BQs of 3.5! In the end it was fabulous selection on your part, bowling-wise. Wear seems to lessen the difference between bowling types, and the Basin has hosted many games recently. Hanley's innings was perfectly timed to annoy offie Waters: the left-hander entered two overs after Chris' first spell ended, and exited two balls before Chris was to come on again!

My bowling lineup's rather declined in hax sadly as the rest of CW has improved. Kaiser's absolutely wonderful, but Waters hasn't been great recently. On the look out for a good bowler on the TM: I would get Ramalingam (who should be kept imo) but I need more of a movement-focused or preferably balanced type.

Topsy turvy T20 game. Tailenders getting out slogging when the run rate is under control and there's a set batsman at the other end smoking them FTL.

yea i've tried setting my tailenders to 1 aggression and they still slog and get out when there's absolutely no need for it. Has cost me a lot of games, a couple this season. Would love if that could be fixed somehow.

Had to pick a rotated attack for the league game against TNTs today. 48/4 after 7. Caldwell batting on a different pitch to everyone else atm. More worryingly, Amjad Fakhir bowling on a different one.

It's partly due to low SS making distribution between the five strokes somewhat random, ftr
it's the case with players who have decent/high SS too. Or a set batter who enters the death overs. The engine just overrides and takes over.

I found that setting 1 aggression does counter it to some extent, but pressure causes them to slog anyways.

tbh the opposite problem happens to me more often, with pushes in the final three overs frequent. Perhaps it's to do with MAS?

yea the MAS is annoying as well. Once you cross it they're more willing to take the foot off the gas. But ofcourse, set the MAS too high and they implode at the top of the innings.

Ideally you set a reasonable MAS + batting orders so that your top order takes a good chunk out of the game, and lays the platform for high att batters to come in on high aggression and swing from the hip, so that you can go well pass the MAS. But the reality is sometimes batters get out cheaply and then you're relying on experience to cover the gaps.

This is why I prefer chasing lol. We've lost too many games to weaker opposition because of sub par first innings scores. Hard to get that balance right.
