Umpire’s call, wow. But Masood definitely erred in playing back. Talk about a stuttering test career.

There's a higher likelihood of Pak being rolled over in the first session tomorrow than of them batting all day.

Can picture @trundler watching at home growing increasingly mad. His face is expressionless, but with each wicket his grip around the cup tightens, the ripples in the Tapal Tea giving away his underlying emotions.

Is bracewell getting wickets a good thing? Would love to see NZ win this but it keeps phillips out the test team.....

Didn't know a Macewell train existed tbh.

He's a perfectly fine 5th bowler of course, and in these conditions a little better than that though I'd never select him in a 4-man attack. This is a better role for him than that ridiculous England 3rd test, though it also requires him to score runs - he's looked a long way short of this so far.

I guess I should register that when NZ first picked Colin De Grandhomme I also thought that was dumb and not a real role; but it worked. I thought if they were insistent on selecting CDG then he should bat 6 and be a batsman first. Instead CDG managed to be a good selection as pretty close to a 50/50 bowler/batter*, he exceeded 'bits and pieces' level though of course never reached 'genuine test all-rounder selectable in either discipline'. If that's the aim for Macewell then he needs to bat a lot better... for which I have some scepticism given how he struggled with the pace of even Matthew Potts on that England tour.

* though the balance shifted in different conditions.
