Important for the selectors to show Hoff some love IMHO. Murphy to get a cap because we'll need a second spinner in India.

Is it worth playing a left-armer (I think Joel Paris is the only option) just in case Starc is totally done for the India tour?

Nahhhhhh

I can't imagine Paris would be anywhere near selection. Behrendorff could be a bolter but unlikely
I'm actually not sure that Paris is that far away. He's had 36 wickets @ 19 in his last 11 matches and was in the PMs XI which was basically the Australia A team this year.

The knock on him would be that he's not that quick, which won't help on a dead track.

Australia has named a squad of 14.

Looking very likely that Agar will play. You’d think he would bat at 7 and then two of Boland, Hazlewood and Morris play. I expect that Boland will get a rest.

The tail is, of course, very long. The best XI from that squad probably includes Renshaw at 6 but I doubt he’ll play.

What’s the go with concussion subs, by the way? If Agar cops a blow to the head then there is no “like for like” replacement in the squad. It’s like finding a replacement for Pavel Florin.

Agar doesn’t deserve a test but he’ll prob play well cos I made this post. Give Murphy a run if we want a real second spinner

Genuinely don’t get the Neser love in Aus conditions. Let him at it in countries where mediocre medium pacers excel like England, NZ and SA.

I think Behrendorff is categorically better than Paris re skills, however one of them has been playing red-ball cricket and the other hasn't . . . would be brave to call Behrendorff up for a Test match when his last First Class match was over 5 years ago

Especially if Jhye is fit. Neser is a very solid bowler but Jhye is a level above

not really sold on Agar the test player but he’s going to india so let’s see what he dishes up. Likewise not sold on gifting test dayboos, but we know what we are getting with Neser and Boland. It would be good to see what Morris has to offer.

generally agree though JRich is a cut above those who haven’t played a test yet this summer, and probably a few who have
