As far as overseas performance is concerned India’s 2007-11 team is better than Kohli’s Team

2007 Eng won
2007 Aus should have drawn against a much stronger side if not for Buckenor
2009 NZ won
2010 SA Drew against a very strong side
2011 WI Won despite missing 4 players

We actually underperformed in Kohli’s tenure . Should have atleast drawn in both ENG+ SA.
India did draw in Eng.

Kohli’s win rate as captain is close to 60%. Sure he lost a couple of close matches, but it is testament to his captaincy that his time was competitive in a lot of matches they lost, not the other way around. You guys are acting like Kohli lost more matches than he won. In fact he has one of the best win ratios for captains for a large number of tests as well. Sunil, a lot of those close matches that India lost(eg Eng 2018(first match especially)and SA 2018(the second match especially)) and some close that they won were on the back of Kohli(eg Edgbaston 2018). So unless you are roasting Kohli for the sake of roasting, your post that India lost more matches than they won cause of Kohli doesn’t make sense. Plus Imran was a worse fielder than him. Subshakerz, Kohli thrives on pressure, so being 1-0 down in a series would have only driven him.

Whatever it takes!!!
Yes , I saw that Test . And I thought Latham batted very well in both innings like he is doing in Pakistan.
NZ team have a good batting line up for sub-continent conditions. We should give them little bit credit instead of blaming our captain.
We also lost half a day to rain and didn't have 3 gun players.
Did u also see how every ****ing seamer bowled 6 over spells on an obviously spin friendly track?

Every bloody session too

Remember how Rohit was supposed to be easily a better captain than Virat ?
That is another guy that should be thrown out of the Team. Guy gets unfit before every overseas tour and gets fit before every home tour .
We should build a young Team of fit and energetic players.

We should also attempt to have some perspective but clearly that's impossible for some of you. Such a shame.

I dont understand the hoops people wanna jump through to push their agenda against Kohli's captaincy here.

I mean, I am one of the most vocal critics here of his absolutely ridiculous team selection calls almost throughout his tenure. The Virat RTG was something I brought here from Reddit.

But here is a simple factoid about the BG win in 2021. Just about every account of the series makes it clear it was Shastri who was the brains behind it all. And without Virat, Shaz wont have been the coach. So Rahane and Rohit can suck it, we were not winning anything in Aus if Virat was not captain.

Who do you blame for India’s series loss in SA this year ?

Lol@Shastri the cheerleader.

Newsflash, it is the captain who actually leads the team on the field who deserves most credit. It's like ignoring Stokes and assuming BazBall is just McCullum.

And you can't give Virat the credit and then call Shastri the mastermind. Virat picked Shastri because unlike Kumble he is there to simply follow his way.

It's just rank denialism to not give Rahane's captaincy credit for India's 2021 victory, when even Shastri himself and team members playing under him did, and instead praise Kohli who left the team in a ditch after the first test and never even captained many of the new team members who played the second half of the series.

Kohli's win percentage is why he is a good captain. He introduced an intensity and ruthlessness that let India crush low and medium opposition with a ferocity not seen in India before. He also introduced the 5 man bowling attack and high fitness standards and deserves credit for that.

But that same team under him also fell short at key moments against the stronger opposition and tougher conditions, as well as ICC knockout events. His own high pressure play backfired.

That doesn't make him a bad captain, but maybe not a great one.
