International Captain
Two great teams from the subcontinent
Imran's team never lost in NZ. And they won a series in England and India. So Imran's team held on to 3 drawn series against West Indies but lost in NZ, Eng, Aus X2.

90s Pakistan were pretty good away from home but 95 onwards lost at home a lot.A better comparison would have been with 90s Pakistan.
Both Kohli’s India and 90s Pakistan underperformed massively given the talent they had .
Kohli won thrice as many matches as captain as compared to Imran overall as well as overseas .
Won't say that IK's team punched above their weight always. Apart from some superb cricket against West Indies in the late 80s, most of the sides were very bland back then.Imran's team never lost in NZ. And they won a series in England.
Kohli's is obviously a stronger team though. Imran's team punched above their weight while Kohli's team underperformed away from home.
That 99 side was basically Pakistani ATXI Team minus Imran and Younis .90s Pakistan were pretty good away from home but 95 onwards lost at home a lot.
I actually believe the 99 side under Wasim that toured India with Wasim, Saqlain and Mushtaq Ahmed would be a good challenge to Kohli's side in India.
True but for Pakistan they have never won in England and India before so in a sense the side exceeded expectations. They also won the 1989 Australiasia Cup, basically the Champions Trophy, and the World Cup.Won't say that IK's team punched above their weight always. Apart from some superb cricket against West Indies in the late 80s, most of the sides were very bland back then.
Waqar played 2 tests but was washed up by that time. No Younis and Imran but a raw Shoaib did well in Calcutta. Afridi as opener was 50/50. But otherwise a strong side who may even possibly beat Kohli's side. That 99 side was basically Pakistani ATXI Team minus Imran and Younis .
Am I right ?
That is why I had said earlier, this side would give a much better fight than Imran’s Pakistan.Waqar played 2 tests but was washed up by that time. No Imran but a raw Shoaib did well in Calcutta. Afridi as opener was 50/50. But otherwise a strong side who may even possibly beat Kohli's side.

Akram was a disaster as captain when he first took over against WI in 93, facing a player revolt and lost badly. That is why I had said earlier, this side would give a much better fight than Imran’s Pakistan.
Looks very strong side on Paper but somehow underperformed against AUS,SA,WI
Both those SA teams were unimpressive and India should've won.Kohli’s India. Perhaps the Asian side which achieved the most, two series wins in Aus, a near win in Eng(I mean even the match they lost, they were missing their best by of the series Rohit), gave a pretty good fight to SA in SA for two series, and near unprecedented home domination for a Asian side at home. Plus also won series in SL and WI.
Sa 2021-22 was unimpressive yes, but still had a very potent bowling attack(especially in home conditions). SA 2018 had Rabada and Philander in red hot form, plus others like Ngidi and Morkel as well, and a pretty decent batting lineup. Both those SA teams were unimpressive and India should've won.
Yeah no shame in losing to that 2018 lineup that beat Australia shortly afterwards.Sa 2021-22 was unimpressive yes, but still had a very potent bowling attack(especially in home conditions). SA 2018 had Rabada and Philander in red hot form, plus others like Ngidi and Morkel as well, and a pretty decent batting lineup.
Yeah but the same side lost 4-1 in England and 2-0 in NZ. Hence underperforming.Kohli’s India. Just so we're clear, Imran's teams drew vs Vivs WI led teams not Lloyds. Holding, Garner missed the 86, 88, and 90 series and Lloyd had retired by then. If anyone thinks that those 3 players wouldn't have made a difference, then they are kidding themselves. So Imran's team held on to 3 drawn series against West Indies but lost in NZ, Eng, Aus X2.

I agree. That’s why I said achieved the most, not achieved to their full potential.Yeah but the same side lost 4-1 in England and 2-0 in NZ. Hence underperforming.
