*Official* Australia vs South Africa -2022/3

Yeah when I heard him say he's feeling better now and it's the festive season blah blah
Still, England's a long way away...
my thinking was along the lines of, in light of how much was in the last pitch for the bowlers and given melbourne's history we'd get a fairly dead road, the exact sort of pitch for some Davey Dubya Cricket chud casuals get off to

Haven't watched any of this series.

Since when have South Africa been s***?

Don't they have the best strike bowler in the world?

Or is it their batting after de villiers retired? They don't have any decent batsmen anymore?

Their batting is completely ass.

i had a really bad feeling warner would cash in this game ffs
The problem with Warner not cashing in is that it will pave way to the return of marcuss harry harris. Despite being statistically 2nd worst Aust opener of all time and over 30, Aust selectors seem to have a real hard on for harry

This is also on paper the 3rd best Aust team ever after golden era and invincibles and Marcuss will ruin that too

If South Africa don't want to deal with Warner scoring a cheap downhill skiing hundred then perhaps they should bowl better. That was trash this evening.

So Warner’s going to race to an aggressive century in his 100th test, do the little jumping fist pump etc

Is there any explanation why, as a society and/or a human race, we would allow this to happen? Surely if this is a functioning democracy we all just agree to cancel the game
Certified gold from Thierry. It shows alot about western civilisation and our species that Warner feels the need to fully maximise his 168cm frame in order to highlight his fragile masculinity

What is the issue with South Africa cricket that they can't produce any decent batsmen? Is the gulf between domestic and international cricket too vast? Were they just lucky with Faf, Hashim and AB or that they're currently at an outlier 'low' in terms of quality but that might just naturally redress itself? You can't even say it's a quota thing because whilst Bavuma isn't performing, the white guys coming in are equally poor.

That's great Jansen has a twin. I like brothers in cricket. Let's hope we get to see them coming in from both ends destroying lineups (but not against Australia)

Some of the SA posters here said there are black guys in better form and younger than Bavuma who could come in but for some reason they don’t get picked.

The only one I can think of is de Zorsi.

I think if I were to be picking an SA side for the next series assuming everyone is fit:

1. Elgar
2. Rickelton
3. Peterson
4. de Zorsi
5. Bavuma
6. *insert all-rounder, bonus points if he isn't white*
7. Verreynne
8. Jansen
9. Maharaj
10. Rabada
11. Nortje

Peterson's career has been a bit meh other than that India series and his FC record isn't amazing but I think he deserves a crack at least. Bavuma ideally you'd move on from but I think if he was to play a firefighter role at 5/6 he might be OK.

I think van Tonder and Janneman Malan would be worth a crack too if one of the above fails. Longer term Brevis and Stubbs should be targeted.

Ngidi to come in on seaming wickets or if one of the bowlers gets injured. Or if the 6/7 is a batting all-rounder who bowls spin.
