Ageing, injured, discarded and then took prolonged time off to recover from various niggles.

Played a Ranji game last week and says he wants to return for the IPL, but at 34 I'm not sure the selectors will give him another go
Yeah he's done I think.

Deserves a lot of credit and praise for his late-career turnaround but he's competing with similar-standard bowlers who are less injury prone and younger now, so I think we can probably put a pin in him.

Definitely better than Lillee, but not quite as good as Hoggard.

For all that EbaGOAT's detractors have to say about him, he's someone who'll keep bowling at near enough or above140kph on a flat deck pretty much all day even in his third and fourth spells and continuously keep some pressure on. He doesn't bowl enough wicket balls which is why he's below test standard but he keeps them honest all day and sometimes fires up and has them hopping around.

Would way rather him on a flat deck like this than some of our other options. When the ball softens up into its typical useless lump after 40 overs on a Deshi pitch, he's still able to keep them on their toes.

Kohli averaged 9 against this Australian attack in 2017 and he entered the series at his peak. He'll be going into that series in the worst form of his career this time

Kohli needs to reconsider his test future. He's been terrible. And if India loses to Australia which seems more likely than ever, it could end Kohli's career, because I don't see him scoring many runs.

He really needed to cash in this series. The schedule next year looks brutal for batting. Australia at home, WTC final in England, West Indies away, South Africa away.

Aus are a good chance to upset us this time around. Even preparing absolute raggers is no cover for this batting lineup. I'll bet on one of Smith and Labuschagne to come good in a big way in every Test and for the likes of Khawaja and Head to play around them. Should be enough to get them over. Lyon with a mandatory 10-fer along the way too.

Fortunately for you Head is beyond dire in the subcontinent. He couldn't even score runs on Pakistani featherbeads.

Also how close is Kohli to getting dropped? The last three years he's averaged under 30 and hasn't scored a ton. Sachin had the knives fully out for him for a form slump that was even shorter than that, and that's Sachin! (though admittedly he was much older)

Don't think so TBH. Aus had a gun second spinner in o'keefe then and smith was in god mode. Think our lack of second spinner now and smith's inconsistent form ruins any benefit we have now.

Kohli could do that for another six years and they still wouldn't dare.

Sachin was getting calls to be dropped right after his insane run in the late 90s/early 00s with his tennis elbow problems, nevermind later career. Ridiculous that Kohli can't be touched.

Thought this was about Kohli for a second.

as for Kohli he is no longer captain and it seems he doesn’t carry the same clout and influence he once did behind the scenes after Ganguly’s stint. add a huge depth of talent waiting for change and chance topped by a dude with the record of Bradman domestically from a powerful lobby region…… Kohli is done for if he keeps playing like this

Whatever it takes!!!
Nah, Kohli will be back. I actually think he is batting a bit better now than he did. I dunno how many of the LOs he is gonna play in Jan, but hopefully he can make some good ODI runs and take that flow to his test batting.
