Regardless of current pitch this is not new... they have been sticking with this poor team selection policy for the last 18 months.

They have tried Mulder, but he hasn't done anything with the bat at test level.

Their bowling is great but clearly not as good as Australia's imo. Rabada has perfected the art of bowling mediocre but somehow coming away with good figures.

Depends what you mean. A "rank turner" where Michael Clarke and Joe Root are more effective bowlers than a world-class fast bowler is definitely worse than this.

That would be like if David Warner bowled some medium pacers and was more dangerous than Nathan Lyon
