CricketWeb selects the ATG ODI XI

Lara didn't open heaps in ODIs but his record there in the 50 odd games he did it is actually great. Probably would have done it more if WI had better middle order options throughout his career.

Lara as opener averaged 46 in the nineties, very impressive.

Bairstow and Symonds

Before people throw their pitchforks at me.. Bairstow averages 48 and has a sr of 108. No one is that consistent and also that destructive even in this current generation. Gilchrist matches that in terms of sr if adjusted for era I'm sure but that average difference is significant enough that Bairstow edges him there. Gilly probably has it covered in big match performances and being a better keeper but Bairstow gonna Bairstow

Rohit is super unlucky to miss out because the side needs a keeper and Dhoni's last 3-4 odi years were too bad to deserve selection in an ATG side

Big fan of both Greenidge and Haynes back in the day but just wondering how Gordon could make an ATG team with a strike rate of 64?
Totally understand it was different back then, but 64 is mediocre by any standard and just can't see it justified here.
Going for Gilchrist because a high percentage of time he'll take the game away from a side within half an hours play.
