Better to be named Hayden than Sehwag if you’re a lady, I guess.I'm Hayden...but Sehwag is not bad either. Btw, I'm a lady.
Haha...my first name is Melissa. Too, bad Hayden got married when I was in high school age 17. ?Better to be named Hayden than Sehwag if you’re a lady, I guess.
Sehwag did well in Australia and failed in 3 countries. Cook failed in 2, Kirsten in 2. Name any opener outside the upper echelon and you'll find the same trend ie 2 or 3 countries where they failed.Failing in the three countries known to support lateral movement is not the same as failing in 1-2 countries. If Sehwag managed to do well in 1 of 3 you can do the downplaying you are trying.
It just goes to how we assess players. I don't assess them better for playing more and succeeding in their favored conditions, you apparently do. It's not a reflection of their actual skill quality.
Its the specific countries he failed in. Kirsten can always point to his success in India and Pakistan to show his SL failing wasnt an indictment of his batting skills in the SC. Cook still has plenty of success in England to balance SA and NZ underperformances.Sehwag did well in Australia and failed in 3 countries. Cook failed in 2, Kirsten in 2. No one is saying Sehwag is anywhere near the level of a Sunil or Hobbs etc. But he's in the mix with the next tier.
South African conditions are more like those in Australia than Eng/NZ. Sehwag did fine in Australia so can his SA failure simply be a fluke failure? Its the specific countries he failed in. Sehwag failed in three countries with particular conditions.
Surely you jest. The series Sehwag faced in SA in 2007 and 2011 were very swing/seam friendly.South African conditions are more like those in Australia than Eng/NZ. Sehwag did fine in Australia so can his SA failure simply be a fluke failure?
SA is obviously far more bowler friendly than Australia but it has the pace and bounce that Eng/NZ pitches don't. The fact that many Aus batsmen manage to do well in SA (and vice versa) is a reasonable indication of this being true. Several SA pitches reward driving on the up and square of the wicket scoring.Surely you jest. The series Sehwag faced in SA in 2007 and 2011 were very swing/seam friendly.
SA has the bounce from Australia and the seam friendlinss of NZ and ENG, only moreso.
Sehwag did well in Australia and England is Cook's home so yeah I'd expect him to do well at home. Its the specific countries he failed in. Australia isnt as lateral movement friendly as the others. Especially when Sehwag toured in 2003-4.Sehwag did well in Australia and England is Cook's home so yeah I'd expect him to do well at home.
I saw Sehwag struggle in 2011 in SA, when he was flaying away at the offstump and unable to compensate for Steyn's late movement.SA is obviously far more bowler friendly than Australia but it has the pace and bounce that Eng/NZ pitches don't. I agree. I think he would have a 1-2 point average boost.Sehwag was a middle order batsman who was forced to open. He should be given extra points for succeeding there to such an extent. His debut test in SA he scored a century coming in at #6. For all we know, he may have scored a lot more runs in SA, Eng, NZ if he was batting down the order.
That’s just home for him you turdsteak.Cook still has plenty of success in England to balance SA and NZ underperformances.
You mean when he was past his peak and done? Ok.I saw Sehwag struggle in 2011 in SA
Ugh, at least respond to the entire post. You mean when he was past his peak and done? Ok.
Point is you can't claim he failed collectively in swinging conditions. That’s just home for him you turdsteak.
Gotta remember this for my next insult. That’s just home for him you turdsteak.
Yeah Subs but at home his stats would include all teams the good and the bad. Restricting his home performance to say Australia or a RSA: he averages 29 and 37 respectively. So against decent pace even at home, Cook had issues.Point is you can't claim he failed collectively in swinging conditions.
