Is he really the angriest and most argumentative cricketer of all time, surely there's someone more fitting for the role?
Tendulkar sucked for like 12 matches from Ind vs Sl 2005-06 till ind vs sa 2006-07. In the 172 matches from. 1993-2011, he only had something like a slump in these matches. Somehow people have this idea that he sucked for 2002-2007. During this period he averaged close to 49.
Between Multan test against Pakistan in 2004 and 2007-08 tour of Australia, Tendulkar played something like 30-40 tests in memory. Outside of Bangladesh, he scored just one hundred against SL and averaged 33 or so (averaged 150-200 against BD in the period). Somehow people just look at overall averages and have the idea that he didn't really suck in that period. He sucked at same level as current Kohli.
this is a massive exaggeration
I remeber being very very frustrated at many of his batting failures including not playing according to demands of the situation. His best however in that period was his fifty on treacherous Mumbai pitch against Australia in 2004.
First of all this is a highly selective sample, and further you are excluding tests against Ban. Agreed they were a very poor test team, but Tendu shouldn’t get penalised for scoring heavily against them in this period. I don’t think it’s fair to say a player sucked if for a period for 25(30-4 or 5 he played against Ban), he averaged 33 against major nations. Plus if you look closely, after Ind vs Pak series, Tendulkar sucked for two two match series vs Aus and Sa, then had a great series vs Ban and a good one vs Pak, where he averaged 50+ and scored 3 fifties including a score of 94. Now comes a slump, a continuous spell of bad form where he had those 12 bad matches I have mentioned above. After this good series vs Pak and great vs Aus.
