I have seen a bit of David Willey and he's never struck me as even looking like approaching an international cricketer, but he bowled very well today

Jason Roy's toast, isn't he. Before the T20 WC, Pietersen was having a massive moan about him being dropped. Maybe I missed the bit where he admitted that Hales run of scores against NZ, SL and India suggested that the selectors might just have got it right.

Haze has really gone backwards in LO stuff the past 6-9 months
Still far too good for Salt though. I did wonder during the WC Final whether there may be better options against decent quicks who are moving the ball than trying to play them from a couple of feet outside leg stump.

Australia only in this game because Starc fluked those 2 early wickets, and Salt had a brain explosion

the issue is with ODI cricket generally. competing against itself(the spinoff being the highly successful T20) - with the middle overs being very boring.

In summary they should scrap the ODI, and put more test matches on in its place(keeping T20s the same).
That won’t happen though

Think Australia are letting this game drift too much. Starc/Haze probably need to come back for a few overs.

I think that England need at least one of these two to really make it count. The rest of the batting looks like offering cameos rather than anything substantial.

England right on top of the run rate here, Billings suddenly looking good, will be interesting to see if he can dig in again after his consecutive sixes,
no need to get out playing a desperate shot at this stage.

Ummmm why was that umpire's call on height? Is DRS forgetting that bails are part of the stumps now?

That's a shame. Kind of symptomatic of Vince's England career insofar as he was really good for a while but then got out with a poor shot when the game was there for the taking. He remains one of those 'not quite' cricketers at this level. Given that he's the same age as the guys ahead of him in the pecking order, it will probably never happen now.
