It's CW so the rule is that every thread is about Test batting unless stated otherwise.

In Tests it's not remotely close. Kohli COULD be better than Ponting, he has all the talent in the world, but Ponting is the one who actually put the runs on the board.

I know it's about Test batting.

I know Ponting is bit better bat than Kohli but not remotely close is an strecth.

In his prime he betweeb 2016-2019 he scored 4208 @67. That's close to Ponting's prime and he played in a more batting friendly era.

Kohli now looks bad because his decline coincided with the worst batting era since the 50s

I did say Ponting was more talented. Kohli is not even the most talented guy in his team.

Yeah this. Kohli had a chance a few years ago but he’s pissed it away. Only something monstrous now would get him close to Ponting.
