That's a very corporate West Indian statement right there. Still, read between the lines and I think Big Phil is in trouble. Quite rightly in my opinion. That's two world cups in a short space of time in which we have bombed. Yes the players aren't very good but they are better than that. There were confusing selections and tactics in the warm up matches and bilateral series that didn't help the team at all.

I would bring in a white ball specialist coach, we've made zero progress over the last 3 years.

I also can't help but feel a severe sense sense of deja vu. We dominate the format early on, win two cups, have 5 or 6 of the world's top 10 T20 players. Then other teams catch up and take it further with big hitting aligned with running well between the wickets etc.

Meanwhile we do absolutely nothing to help the next generation learn from the GOATs like Gayle and Narine (not always the boards fault). We don't have a domestic T20 tournament outside of CPL so our 16-21 year olds have next to no T20 exposure or chances to learn. We don't learn from our mistakes.

They'll change the coaching set up, probably thr captain and expect results to change.

The Leeward Islands haven't held a 3-day tournament in 10 years, CWI condensed the FC Tournament last year into a 5 round tournament.

There needs to be more done.

Yep the big need is a restructure of the territorial boards. The current CWI regime have been doing a lot centrally to improve our development programmes but if the territories are badly structured and don't follow them the whole thing falls down.

The test squad for Australia should be announced today. My guess is:

Kraigg Braithwaite (captain)
Jermaine Blackwood (vice captain)
Tage Chanderpaul
Nkrumah Bonner
Joshua Da Silva (wk)
Devon Thomas (back up wk)
Kyle Mayers
Jason Holder
Raymon Reifer
Gudakesh Motie
Alzarri Joseph
Kemar Roach
Jayden Seales
Anderson Phillip

I would take Brandon King as a middle order batsmen but they won't. I'd also be tempted to take a back up seamer in addition.

They normally select a minimum squad of 15 for an away tour and I'd select King as well. He has a good fc avg as far as West Indian players are concerned.

KB, Tage, Bonner, King, Blackwood, Mayers, JDS, Holder, AlJo, Motie and Roach would be my test XI.

The official squad is in.... and inexplicably Chase and Brooks are back in to 'bolster the middle order.'

Roston Chase..... Part time spinner, batsman who gets out bowled and lbw stuck on the crease every time to 88mph plus. Averaged under 12 over a 2 year period, hasn't played any FC cricket of note since... Sounds like a great option for Australia right?

Brooks struggled massively against England and has done nothing to warrant a recall since.

One can only conclude the Bajan cabal is back and that Dessie is making all the decisions.

What message does this send Motie?

There really isn't much to celebrate in our cricket at the moment.

No specialist spinner means Chase is definitely playing as well.
Honestly the idea of staying up until God knows what time to watch Chase get bowled camping on the back foot to a full ball, then slumping down to pretend that it kept low, fills me with complete despair.

How does he fit in anyway? He can't bat in the top 6 and we'll be wasting a seamers slot. Maybe he could bat at 8 and Phillip misses out? Who knows? It's a rubbish pick either way.

Braithwaite
Chanderpaul
Bonner
Mayers
Blackwood
Holder
Da Silva (wk)
Joseph

Bringing back chase is a huge let down.

Kraigg will most definitely pick him so that he can bowl the bulk of the overs on the Aussie pitches.

I don’t get why they’d drop Motie tho.
stinks of politics
Disgraceful stuff. Clear favouritism by the captain and selectors.

The coverage of the super50 just came on. The teams are in two zones. One in Trinidad & one in Antigua.

All the televised games will be in Antigua.

So we’ll be missing out on seeing Guyana, Trinidad, etc in these matches..
