I would vote Crowe though still.Contemporaries Crowe and Gower might have been a close poll if social media existed around when their careers finished but Crowe has maintained an exceptionally high rating whereas Gower’s stock has clearly fallen since retirement.
I think Gower is up with Pietersen as England's 2nd best middle order bat (behind Root obv) post Barrington/Cowdrey.Contemporaries Crowe and Gower might have been a close poll if social media existed around when their careers finished but Crowe has maintained an exceptionally high rating whereas Gower’s stock has clearly fallen since retirement.
Yeah Gower, KP and Thorpe are hard to put in order. I get the impression the English younger generation don’t rate Gower very highly tbh but probably only basing that on a handful of opinions.I think Gower is up with Pietersen as England's 2nd best middle order bat (behind Root obv) post Barrington/Cowdrey.
Inzi and Kanhai is the right zone IMOMichael Clarke vs Crowe would be closer, but Crowe would still win that.
Kevin Pietersen is the best English batsman since Geoff Boycott. Then Gower, then miles back ThorpeYeah Gower, KP and Thorpe are hard to put in order. I get the impression the English younger generation don’t rate Gower very highly tbh but probably only basing that on a handful of opinions.
