It may seem radical, but can it be justified to play 5-days without a result? I mentioned in another thread that this is one of cricket's biggest downsides. How can so much resources be dedicated to arranging games in which the end is so unsatisfactory?
Sometimes it is exciting to have a short passage of play where a team is trying to survive until the end. But not if it lasts an entire 1-2 days play of just blocking. Having the rain cut short an impending victory just seems unfair, and the worst is flat pitches that just meander to draws and waste people's time.
Is it possible to change the rules to force a result somehow, or allow the team ahead to be able to declare victory?
