It's been a great batting effort from Aus to recover from a shaky start. NZ could learn a lot overall.Smith’s worked out these wickets as the series has gone on. great effort to engineer what should be a matchwinning total.
NZ need to take a leaf out of his book but look too shell shocked to do so. Conway probably the most likely to adapt. The tour’s been a great personal triumph for Boult though.
Don’t mind Neesham as the designated death option if there’s no one better (though he’s getting tonked here), but let’s spare Southee the embarrassment already, him bowling at the death is like a 40-something at a bar who thinks he’s still got it.It's been a great batting effort from Aus to recover from a shaky start. Also, we're a year out from a ODI world cup and it still seems like we're figuring out who should be death bowling when all of these ****s have played in a WC final, a couple of them twice.
Yup, ending up with less than a run a ball strange given the platform that was set. Think the way this series and that Zimbabwe game went, definitely a good shout at no5 though.Carey was pretty conservative at the end there, maybe that was his role. Feel like he could have taken a few more risks
There was a time when Neesham was arguably our best death bowler, but most bowlers like a bit of rhythm. Bringing him on for one over, the last over of the innings, is just poor planning imo. Even if it's just two on the trot, that'll help.Don’t mind Neesham as the designated death option if there’s no one better (though he’s getting tonked here), but let’s spare Southee the embarrassment already, him bowling at the death is like a 40-something at a bar who thinks he’s still got it.
Latham has a ridiculously good win percentage as ODI captain - mostly against minnows though. Unfortunately he is terrible against Aus and Sa with the bat (struggles with quality pace) which isn't good for a captain. Southee has done a decent job captaining the T20 team but isn't a 1st choice ODI pick.Who’s realistically next in line to skipper NZ? Latham?
Was quite sold on Latham when he captained in the 2021 Edgbaston test which NZ won after making six changes, but since then in the tests he captained in KW’s absence (Ind, BD, SA, plus one in the England tour) he seemed equally unimaginative. Guess conservatism is all pervasive at the moment.Latham has a ridiculously good win percentage as ODI captain - mostly against minnows though.
