This, folks, is not satire.I don't watch cricket outside Australia
He was when he got signed for megabucks in the IPL but got smashed by the Aussies then went down in the queue. I agree about Bracewell - really weird. And we've got Glenn Phillips - world class T20 player, great fielder, lightning between the wickets, 1st class av of 40, as good a spinner as Bracewell and he can't crack the ODI team.Yeah but Jamieson isn’t first choice ODI or 20/20, don’t think he’s ever been anyway ?
I thought we were brosThis, folks, is not satire.
You are entitled to get better with your skills, which Bracewell certainly has done. But no, I would agree he's not a bowler who should be paid any heed to against good opposition, and certainly his batting is not anywhere near where it needs to be.He’s also played over 300 games of professional cricket, 98 being first class cricket, and only taken 90 odd wickets. He isn’t a bowlers asshole, they’re just trying to fit him in.
Never been bro-er, you and I. Broseph's of the closest kind. That's what bros do, rip on each otherI thought we were bros
Oh I’m sure he has improved, and that’s fair enough. That doesn’t mean he should be playing international cricket though like you said. The fact that he’s making every single team, playing in very single game just doesn’t make sense. Something is seriously up there. You are entitled to get better with your skills, which Bracewell certainly has done. He seems to have adopted this ultra positive 'I'm going to back myself under all circumstances' mindset, which when you have the skills is fine...but I'm not sure it's going to work out for him. He charged Maxwell's first ball and hit it for four yesterday, and tried to do the same thing v England, most notably his putrid swipe across the line in the 2nd innings at Leeds with Blundell well set.

The match last night was a lot of fun. Often the problem with JAM series is that one or both teams are well short of their best XI, whether due to injuries, resting or T20 comps taking players, but here both sides were near full strength. There was also a real competitive edge - I guess NZ always extra motivated to try beat Australia, while Australia stung by the loss to Zimbabwe and trying to get their core team into form early season. Decent and enthusiastic crowd too, international cricket a rare event for Cairns locals. Was surprising and pleasing for a series that started like this:I'd also like to point out that we've punched out 17 pages on a thread for a single ODI.
I reckon it's flat out irresponsible of people like Moeen Ali saying ODIs are boring, pandering to the dopamine fix short attention span generation, administrators ****-canning them for the easy candy floss sell of T20Is etc.
Yesterday I sat down for quite a few hours, not all of it, and watched people play proper cricket. Guys had to build an innings, there were ebbs and flows, tactics around who bowled when and for how long, when guys went hard with the bat and when they had to grind out singles/push the run rate at a certain level, and in the end there was a thrilling result that was never predictable. And actually one that people will remember in a few years' time. Contrast that to the boring, predictable, hit and giggle of a T20 and it's not even a contest.
I reckon it'll be to the significant detriment of the international game if they can't find a way to keep those sort of contests alive. We enter further into the commodified world of slap and clap over proper cricket at our peril, I reckon.
They look like they've just been told the winner will have to shove the trophy up the loser's arse

I like that this thread has a themeWilliamson's face turned out to be because Ian Smith had threatened to sit on him if he didn't select a Bracewell.

Either that or Finch had just made a comment about the red shoes.

he has the air of a mogwai just fed after midnight in the looks departmentI raised this once and Flem tried to claim he was normal looking
That is incredible pressure (both physically and figuratively) so I have no problem with him bowing to thatWilliamson's face turned out to be because Ian Smith had threatened to sit on him if he didn't select a Bracewell.
Can safely assume Flem isn't winning any modelling contests thenI raised this once and Flem tried to claim he was normal looking
On comms last night the cameras were showing the food trucks behind the stands and Smithy was "awww it'd take me a loooong time to walk that ten metres". He was serious though. That is incredible pressure (both physically and figuratively) so I have no problem with him bowing to that
I once saw Smithy own 2-3 hot dogs on his own in a break of play at University Oval. Or was it ice creams? I can't remember, but you've never seen such a demolishing of food.
Yeah I don't mind selectors acting on a hunch - they've had some success with unlikely selections after all - but every game in all three formats for M Bracewell? Really?Oh I’m sure he has improved, and that’s fair enough. That doesn’t mean he should be playing international cricket though like you said. He could have had a bagful just of Carey last night but the **** kept getting away with being ****Re Williamson not continuing to attack when Australia were five down for not much, tbf he did bowl one of our most attacking options in Ferguson at that point. It hasn't been Ferguson's time recently and I know he's had niggles, though there was nothing wrong with his pace last night. Feel it has to be just a matter of time before he takes a bagful.
