Got plenty of players out so hopefully when they come back they will sort it.

I think Liverpool will be fine when it comes to top 4 but maybe it might come down to the last few games.

City obviously win the league, Arsenal 2nd and then Liverpool sneaking third place ahead of Chelsea/Spurs.

Not sure what the point of Maguire will be once Lindelof is back as he the worst of the 4 Centre half options United have.
I’ll bet you Liverpool finish ahead of Arsenal. Avatar bet?

Right but TAA, Van Dijk, Allisson and Salah are the undisputed best players in the world at their positions and Fabinho and Robertson are close. They're all fit too.

Competing with City is tough, they set a high bar. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Spurs do not have 6/11 starters who could claim to be the best in the world at what they do. Finishing below two of them would be a disaster.
Is this true? I've seen plenty of people dispute this on the basis that he's not a particularly good or committed defender, for all his quality on the ball.

TAA is secretly an above average RAM masquerading as a right back.

TAA not having a great time lately but the comments you see about him you’d think he was being asked to play the Lee Dixon role by Klopp.

Even at lower levels hardly anyone seems to play 442 these days but players and teams get rated online as if they do. Possibly skewed view by following a lower league club and being active on its forum, though.

Oh yeah he's obviously great for the particular things Klopp demands of him, and clearly he's in the conversation, but I'd be very surprised if he was so far clear "undisputed best" when there is that one glaring weakness in his game that teams have exploited for goals.

It’s an awkward moment to make the case but his creativity is so, so far off the charts for a full back. AFAIK it’s unprecedented.

He’s pretty good one on one but has awareness issues and struggles when you make him run towards his own goal. Maybe teams will now hammer that to the point where he becomes a liability. But there's not really a more rounded world class RB out there, and based on the last 3 years it isn’t close.

On a serious note, for Elanga's early chance where he hit the post, Trent is nowhere to be seen, and I think people might look at that and conclude that he's a rubbish defender, when he's clearly taken up an advanced attacking position to build a move before Robertson gives it away with an aimless punt up the line.

Yeah, this is premature optimism from a lot of the internets regarding us
Ha, quite.

I say this as a Gooner of nearly 40 years standing and with much love, but our fans are just the worst sometimes.

I mean, the vast majority are normal and splendid chaps, I'm sure, but the minority who make the most noise on t'interwebs: yeesh. Don't really do sane, considered analysis.

We have looked as if we've improved, but we have had a very cosy start to the season. We'll know more when we play some of the big boys and/or get a few injuries.

The first few games of the new season are always spectacular for atrocious knee-jerk takes. This time last year we'd just beaten Leeds 5-1 and Pogba finally reaching his potential was going to fuel a title challenge. Arsenal were an unsalvageable shambles and needed to sack Arteta.

Another quality winger and central midfielder and we can think about top 4 again imo.

tbf at least most of your fans have got over the "it's the natural order of the universe that <club I chose at six> should win all the titles"

Unlike, uh, Certain Other Online Fanbases

This is a slightly pessimistic take, Arsenal would already be a top 4 club if they hadn't **** the bed at the end of last season. Man Utd looked much improved last night but performing well in big games and then inexplicably losing 3-0 to a relegation battler has been a thing since Ole took the wheel.

Chelsea also don't look impressive and Tuchel appears to be in the middle of his falling out with everyone phase he's so fond of.

Arsenal should be there or thereabouts in the conversation for top 4 even without any new signings.

The big question for Arsenal is how the squad copes with Europe. With everyone fit they're easily good enough to challenge for top four.

The first 3 games of the season don't really move the dial, Leicester and Bournemouth are dirt and the Palace game was pretty even. But I already thought they were pretty good.
