Now perhaps we can stop this stupid chat about Bazbal and realise we are a second rate cricket nation at the moment.Massive overhaul needed and Stokes should get into the real world and accept that he is .captain of a poor side and his attitude does not help.who coaches the bowlers to spray the ball all over the place.Watch where South Africa bowl .Australia would walk all over us at the moment
Lol......such a **** post.

We were a bog ordinary side before Baz/Stokes........and nobody has waved a magic wand and turned these same players into good cricketers overnight. But, you can't ignore the fact that at the start of this summer we were a very realistic chance of loosing every test match. Yet here we are with 4 from 4 in the win column!.

I mean two batsmen can’t consistently keep firing in each game.. It’s not going to work long term. England’s problem of having **** top order won’t just disappear. Having said that, they aren’t out of the game just yet.

I have said it multiple times already, but SA has all the ingredients to become a successful team once again. Their bowling alone would make them competitive.

I'm honestly surprised Stokes is averaging 30. I barely remember him scoring any runs at all since his return, there must be one or two innings in there that I've totally forgotten about.

Anyway too much talk about bAzBaLl and not enough about how SA are quietly developing into a low-key impressive side with little fuss or fanfare. Like a lot about what they're doing tbh.

He got a 50 in two of the NZ chases, including the insane Bairstow partnership where he hit the winning runs
Ah yeah now I remember those. Completely overshadowed by what Root and Bairstow have been doing in those chases I guess

This SA team has many, many flaws. But I know that all my fellow SA fans will admit that they do have fight. Especially under Boucher and Elgar. It's just that collapses are always around the corner because the batting is just not top class.

They're definitely one of the biggest beneficiaries, somewhat ironically given the weakness of the batting, from the generally spicy nature of pitches in the last few years (though less so this year). The fight in them means they can scrape together a 200+ score somehow a lot of the time and with their attack and on helpful pitches that means they're at least in the game.

The irony is SA also keeps playing a shortened batting line-up and extra bowler that is just generally not needed. While leaving out a very good batting allrounder.

If they need to regularly score 400 then this side will come up short very often. But they are always competitive when it's a 250-300ish vs 250-300ish game.
The things is with better selection it feels like they could start threatening 350-400 more often without much loss in bowling quality.

It does feel like they decided that rather than do their job and actually make a decision between Nortje and Jansen they opted the easy way out in playing both. Jansen has shown some ability with the bat, and if he were averaging over 30 in first-class cricket then I wouldn't have too much of a problem with his selection, but he averages 23 with no centuries and test cricket is not the place to try to turn someone into an all-rounder.

It feels like the selectors don't want to make hard decisions for the Test team... but it does not matter soon there won't be any more Test cricket for SA... you know because of 'practicalities'...

I am developing massive respect for Elgar the skipper noway this turnaround was possible without him at the top. The team looks a genuine top 4 test unit with not a single world class batsman amongst them.
