A blind no armed dwarf would do better than Crawley. Catch more too.Could Kevin Pietersen today do better than Zak Crawley rn? I’m half serious half joking but a fair question.

Dunno. You probably want to spend a lot of time on the back foot to Nortje anyway, and his control isn't great so he'd feed Lees's cut shot.Alex Lees’ batting has started to remind me of my batting. Plonking his front foot down and hoping for the best. His footwork looks hurried against medium pace so might be funny watching him bat against Nortje.
That is not true... Nortje control is pretty good. He is not as good as he has been in the past but he is only just coming of injury.Dunno. You probably want to spend a lot of time on the back foot to Nortje anyway, and his control isn't great so he'd feed Lees's cut shot.
Tim Murtagh OTOH would eat him alive.
I just think Nortje will hurry him if he bowls on target. Lees went forward when he should have gone back for his dismissal in the first innings.Dunno. You probably want to spend a lot of time on the back foot to Nortje anyway, and his control isn't great so he'd feed Lees's cut shot.

Ehh, I'll take your word for it. I'm not down on him generally but both series I've seen him in he was a runs+wickets kind of guy, and his career E/R is very high. That is not true... Nortje control is pretty good. He is not as good as he has been in the past but he is only just coming of injury.
I'm still not convinced that he was the best selection, but you have to give him credit for doing his job and seeing off the new ball. His and Elgar's partnership averages over 50 for the first wicket, so they are regularly giving the team a solid start.Nice from Erwee...
I posted a bit about Lees during the NZ series, arguing that his strategy of camping on the back foot and wafting outside off stump is one of the worst ways to play as an English opener. So yeah I basically agree with you. Just worry more about how he'll do when bowlers nibble it around his toes than when they bowl fast.Agree that you need to spend a lot of time on the back foot against Nortje
Yeah it’s become more of a concern every innings. Looks good but gives it away...A very Petersen dismissal.
I like Erwee, and think he can do a job for SA in short term. I just don’t like what his selection means for the long term and SA selection policy.I'm still not convinced that he was the best selection, but you have to give him credit for doing his job and seeing off the new ball. Although what comes after that start is another matter...
He is used as an enforcer sometimes and goes for runs being asked to bowl short. But when he is asked to bowl on a length at off stump he can do that well. The biggest criticism is sometimes his lack of movement. But from a SA selection point of view creates variety!Ehh, I'll take your word for it. Yeah he likes to get on either foot very early. He would have done better than Hameed but wouldn’t have got runs against that attack.I posted a bit about Lees during the NZ series, arguing that his strategy of camping on the back foot and wafting outside off stump is one of the worst ways to play as an English opener. It's not the worst technique for Australia though, which the selectors always seem to have an eye on.
