as I always say it’s not incredible these places compete with Zimbabwe, it’s incredible Zimbabwe compete with them.Good to see the plucky Jersey standing up to the big guns here.
based on what happened in the Challenge League B game vs Hong Kong, Jersey is also not above physical and verbal abuse on the field if it helps them get their way either. If Jersey beat Zim I hope there won’t be any stories about plucky Jersey standing up to the big guns. Jersey is one of the wealthiest per capita places on the planet, Zim is, well, Zim.
not saying they’re all personally wealthy just that it’s not really fair to compare a bankrupt sub Saharan African country with a wealthy, stable western one. I don’t mind if they beat Zim I just don’t like people saying it’s an underdog story. Zim are the underdogs against everyone in this tournament except Uganda and PNG.based on what happened in the Challenge League B game vs Hong Kong, Jersey is also not above physical and verbal abuse on the field if it helps them get their way either.
Wouldn't be surprised if they're found guilty of tampering the ball one of these days as well. Absolute bunch of wealthy assholes.
tbf Hong Kong only have 3 turf grounds and 3000 cricketers, including women and juniors, so I'd definitely have Zimbabwe as a favorite against us despite the socioeconomic gap. Singapore are in a similar position as well. For all the wealth the respective nations may have, the resources available to cricket specifically are very thin.not saying they’re all personally wealthy just that it’s not really fair to compare a bankrupt sub Saharan African country with a wealthy, stable western one. That's a good point, and I didn't think of it that way. At the same time though, it's a non-test-playing nation against a test-playing nation, so if Jersey happened to win (which they won't), it's understandable to see it as an upset.not saying they’re all personally wealthy just that it’s not really fair to compare a bankrupt sub Saharan African country with a wealthy, stable western one.
