This was an excellent series for us imo. The mentality is right, even from Kohli and Sharma, who generally have been the slower starters at the top.

Learned/confirmed many things

- Bhuvi is h00ping it again
- Harshal/Avesh/Arse are pretty good but Harshal’s batting makes him quite valuable
- Umran is nowhere close to international standard yet
- Pant is not very good at LOs
- We need to take risks while batting from ball 1
- Chahal is regrettably our best spinner

Pant is great batsmen and best keeper batsman on the planet! He can play any format.

I agree with rest,India are the best T20 team on the planet and this is great result for next world T20. India will win that tournament too, I promise.

Pant as an opener is something I would want to try more. With fielders in the circle he can be destructive. That'd mean Rahul cannot be accommodated in XI except in place of Kohli.

Thinking from a somewhat mixed perspective of my own and selectors -

Absolutely must play -
Bumrah
SKY
Hardik

Will play -

Rohit
Kohli
Bhuvi

Decisions -

Harshal vs Arshdeep vs Thakur vs Avesh(I'd prefer Arsh, but I can see why Harshal might look good on paper, the other two need to be backups at best)
Pant vs DK vs Ishan (Don't like any of the options, Pant probably has the best case with it being Australia)
Chahal vs Jadeja (Again, I'd take Chahal but Jadeja is Jadeja) - outside shot for Bishnoi and Ashwin I guess.
Rahul vs Hooda vs Iyer (Iyer in Australia is bleh, so Hooda and Rahul I guess)

Rohit
Pant(?)
Kohli
SKY
Rahul(?)
Hooda(?) (6)
Pandya (5)
Harshal (?) (3)
Bhuvi (2)
Chahal (?) (4)
Bumrah (1)

The team strategy should be to start the games at 20/3 in 4 overs before Hooda and SKY take us to 150 in 17 overs, Pandya and Harshal can do a job after that. Rahul is in the team but shouldn't actually be allowed to bat for the sake of team morale.

I reckon DK makes the most sense for the keeping spot because he's so comfortable batting 7. The others might be 'better' but everyone else is a lot more effective batting in the positions they need to be in to be effective.

So I'd go something like

1 Rohit
2 Rahul
3 Kohli
4 SKY
5 Pandya
6 Hooda/Jadeja
7 Karthik
8 Harshal
9 Bhuvi
10 Bumrah
11 Chahal

Whatever it takes!!!
Bhuvi is not gonna hoop it in Australia. The team I would prefer -

Rohit
Pant / Rahul
Virat
SKY
Hardik
Jaddu
DK
D Chahar
Harshal
Bumrah
Chahal

I don't agree with that. To me, what the selectors think is,

Absolutely must play -
Rahul
SKY
Hardik
Bumrah
Chahal

Will play -

Rohit
Kohli
Jadeja
Pant
Bhuvi

Decisions -

Harshal vs Arshdeep vs Avesh
Harshal wins here easily

Pant vs DK vs Ishan
DK will come good but the selectors will ditch him first chance and go with Pant or Kishan

I can bet that below will be the WC squad and the playing XI.

Playing XI
Rohit
Rahul
Kohli
SKY
Pant
Hardik
Jadeja
Harshal
Bhuvi
Bumrah
Chahal

Reserves
Iyer
Avesh
Arshdeep
DK
Ishan/Hooda

A top three of Rohit, Rahul and Kohli sounds perfectly fine for a 50 overs world cup not a t20 world cup. You need at least one natural blaster in their such as Hooda or even take a punt on Pant.

India win toss and bowling first.

Like how good that top 7 for England is. Shame it's not Woakes, Archer, Wood, Rashid occupying the other numbers.

Mind Willey should never have left the side. Unlucky they pushed through a change of rules for Archer to replace him.

England: 1 Jason Roy, 2 Jonny Bairstow, 3 Joe Root, 4 Ben Stokes, 5 Jos Buttler (capt & wk), 6 Liam Livingstone, 7 Moeen Ali, 8 Craig Overton, 9 David Willey, 10 Brydon Carse, 11 Reece Topley

India: 1 Rohit Sharma (capt), 2 Shikhar Dhawan, 3 Shreyas Iyer, 4 Suryakumar Yadav, 5 Rishabh Pant (wk), 6 Hardik Pandya, 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 Mohammed Shami, 9 Jasprit Bumrah, 10 Yuzvendra Chahal, 11 Prasidh Krishna
