A year ago, I would have put Ashwin on top, but since then his stock has fallen and Jadeja has risen, especially as a batsman.

Jadeja > Ashwin >= Mankad as ARs, and I'd easily take Jadeja & Ashwin in the ATG Indian XI now. Very strange questions to ask tbh, would've thought the answer was pretty obvious even for the most obtuse.

We're missing a lot of context on Mankad. What sort of pitches did he play on? People still rank Zaheer ahead of Shami for obvious reasons but I imagine the disparity in team support is even greater for Mankad and Jadeja.

No need for this.

Mankad is India's next best allrounder but wouldn't make India's best ever XI as he was an opener and you'd pick Gavaskar and Sehwag every time.

Now I'd presume India would play 5 bowlers with keeper at 6 and Kapil at 7. You'd obviously pick Ashwin as a no 8 and quality bowler, although Jadeja is a better allrounder than Ashwin.

Look at the 4 main aspects of cricket:

Batting
Mankad, Jadeja, Ashwin

Bowling
Ashwin, Jadeja, Mankad,

Fielding
Jadeja, Mankad, Ashwin (too intelligent to waste energy fielding)

Mankading
Mankad, Ashwin (he's good at that), Jadeja

So overall has to be Mankad.
Yeah, I think Mankad is actually a bit better than the numbers are showing as a batsman.

At this point, I am wondering if the all-round package of Jadeja is better in overall value to the side than Ashwin.
