Say hypothetically Bairstow keeps this form up for the rest of his career (or for a good portion of it at least) would he be a shout for an ATG?

Averaging low 30s after 75 odd tests means it's almost impossible for him to reach an average of even 45 let alone 50, but could he basically do what Sanath Jayasuriya did in ODIs? (Sub par career average but a ridiculous number of career tons that can't be ignored)

Sanath was also a very good ODI Bowler and brilliant fielder though. Those things matter a wee bit more in LO cricket as well.

True, but we all know Sanath is making ATG XI teams as an explosive opening batsman who barely bowls. It's the mid career transformation into a beast I'm focusing on, both him and Bairstow had a decade of mediocrity that did damage beyond repair to their chances of an elite batting average. But I could easily see Bairstow averaging 50+ from this year onwards

Just tuned in today and see Jonny Bairstow has been at it again.
Has there ever been such a positive effect from a new coach towards a player?
Bazball has been gold for Jonny, completely turning his career upside down.
If he can do it just one more time, we could be in for a very exciting 4th innings chase here, hopefully the pitch conditions hold up well.

Only if it's all on Pakistan/England 2022 batting friendly tracks.
The two tons to kick-start this career revival were in Australia and the West Indies

And he's dealt with some pretty high class bowling this year. But yea, Asia will be a test

On better batting surfaces to be frank. Went missing when Kyle Mayers did his thing in the 3rd Test.

I don't see a 50+ average for him in the future unless everything works out for him.

Better batting surfaces, but he outperformed everyone else, when we consider the rate he's scored at.

He's notched like 500 runs @120 his last 4 test innings. Plenty of people have done the 3 tons in 3 tests but have any been done at this ODI calibre rate? It's something special happening right now

Can anyone possibly imagine how it felt for Stuart Broad yesterday, standing out there and over the loud speaker comes the announcement
that it's the most runs ever scored off an over? Just to make things worse it was a bowler who did it.
Poor fellow, it's not easy to find a rock to hide under out on a cricket field.
