Yeah I think everyone is talking past each other here. It's possible for both the following to be true and fine:

- Hair called Murali based on his own judgement which at the time was the only way to call chucking.
- Hair was proven wrong by subsequent scientific testing

You could make an argument that the entire affair turned out well for everyone: Murali got to keep his records, cricket now had a formal test to deal with chucking, and people are still having online meltdowns about it 30 years later.

- Every thread Murali is brought up sees Burgey and TJB make the same "chucker cheat lololol" comments.
- When people rightly point out the racist and bigoted tropes of these posts, we have SteveNZ Adders and Shady chiming in to say how its all a bit of fun.

also I never said a thing about Murali being a chucker here. I was talking about chuckers in other cricket, now. I didn't comment on anything to do with Murali until assertions were made that the testing is foolproof, which is evidently wrong. You have to stop with these obsessive personal attacks

One important point is missing.

Emerson called him on a leg break in 1996. Then called again despite scientific evidence in 1999. It is bit rich if some one asks us to believe that Hair was calling him on his own volition. It is far from it.

racism is a scourge and should be decried at every level no matter how casual or banterous it seems to be

but racism, i know it when i see it, and throwing out really obviously rancid bait to rile specific posters up on a cricket forum is totally badfaith trolling (and to the neutral observer very amusing no matter who's doing it) but it isn't racism brother
