It was very interesting to see how there were patterns in this very simple draft - for the first 18 picks, the top ATGs were picked. Then the focus shifted to batters, then to tier two seamers, then to batters again. I think that area is very gameable; if one knows the order beforehand they can plan very strategically. There were patterns later on also, but they weren't as noticeable. I'm kind of surprised that only 5 keepers were picked in R11 tbh.

I'd like to keep going with this. To have a Vanilla draft II with all players picked in this draft ineligible. Is there interest?

Two great openers followed by an impressive middle and lower order. Century makers right down to number 9 with flexibility in the order between 6 and 8. ATG great McGrath is supported by the often under-rated Bishop and Cairns. Twin spinners Kumble and Jadeya would appreciate having a golveman with an impressive number of Test stumpings to his name. Hammond adds variety. The team is led by one of the great captains of the modern era.

Overall pretty happy. Especially like the depth on both batting and bowling sides. 6 spec bats, 2 allrounders, and even Hall being a surprisingly decent contributor at 9 give it a short tail. Bowling side have 5 world class bowlers, and the relatively less juice of the change seamers is in my mind more than made up for by having a GOAT spinner.

After the remaining member's picks are done, I'm planning on doing a sim of these teams planned for next weekend. Excited to see how all these teams go, and also looking forward to this vote, which I've yet to participate in one yet!

The other player that I can't believe wasn't picked was Mahela Jayawardene. Just a rock for the Sri Lankan middle order for many years, although never got to the highs of some other players of his era. I think MoYo is slightly better as a batsman, although a good argument for Jayawardene pick based on a better "fit" for this side, but I wasn't trying to pick my team based on less "tangible" factors, and instead picked the best batsmen/bowlers etc.
