Here is Ashwin, the same grip, same spinning finger. But like Swann he uses middle finger to spin off breaks. So these two are not your day to day orthodox finger spinners. Bruce Yardley also had an odd grip like this. Swann and Ashwin are pretty large men with long fingers. The way Yardley does it being a relatively shorter man is amazing.

Whatever man. Even if I've overreacted, it's amazing to me that people with a certain flavor of bias, or in some cases even worse prejudice, don't realize the basic things their eyes are showing them.

Murali was relatively poor at most things on a cricket pitch, except for his unique bowling. That included any athletic actions in the field, like throwing, or batting, and the reason stares you right in the face in that the man can't straighten his arm. Pretty funny to say you "pitch" your way to wickets when you can't even do the fundamental biomechanical action involved in throwing well.

This is mostly wrong, but a tiny nugget of truth. Chucking is absolutely often a result of trying to spin the ball more, or bowl quicker.

Most of us weren't even alive or are too young to remember it. Or in Burgey's case dementia had well and truly kicked in by '96.

Jack Iverson used to do something similar iirc but he had a shortened spinning finger which he used to flick the ball with. His story is a pretty remarkable one tbh.

years ago now a guy on our team called another bloke out for chucking, the bloke who got called out got really mad and so the bloke on our team called him a gumby, turns out the bloke had what was formerly known as asperger's (i forget the correct name) and as a result copped an association warning

See, your bias is showing through here. Explains your florid reaction. You'd have been better off simply saying "he didn't chuck it and even though he was told not to bowl the doosra but did anyway and took a **** ton of wickets with it, he was absolutely legit" than going down the baseless "ooh you're butthurt about 1996, dude" avenue. You really let yourself down there.

Australia deserved to lose the 96 WC final for a number of reasons, chief among them Taylor playing at all let alone as captain. That and Aravinda's knock in particular. An all timer.
