Perhaps we can all conclude from the last couple of matches is that everything we thought we knew about test cricket was wrong.Turned off pissed off and just tuned in again. 202 at basically a run a ball. Madness
I didn't realise you were there. Nice one!Lovely day at the cricket, that.
Wonder if there is any kind of analytics done on this. Conventional wisdom in a lot of sports has basically been proven wrong repeatedly by itPerhaps we can all conclude from the last couple of matches is that everything we thought we knew about test cricket was wrong.
My personal theory is that they've binge watched 'Botham's Ashes', seen everyone else prodding around against Alderman and Lillee before Beefy came in to smash those hundreds at Headingley and Old Trafford, and concluded that's the way the game should be played.Wonder if there is any kind of analytics done on this. I reckon McCullum’s whole identity is in opposition to the piece of conventional wisdom that says there are good and bad ways to get out. Stokes’s dismissal being not just bad, but irresponsible, reckless, proof that he’s a trash human for not doing his duty and nicking a length ball to the keeper.Wonder if there is any kind of analytics done on this. Generously paying back England for not reviewing the lbw which would have gotten Mitchell out early yesterday.New Zealand have really screwed up the big moments. Wagner reviewed first ball against Overton one that clearly pitched miles outside leg, it was a straight ball that didn't swing so never a chance it pitched in line. And then, probably because he didn't want to waste two reviews in such quick time, didn't review one two overs later that was a classic left armer's lbw, swinging to land on middle-and-leg and going on to hit leg. Didn't think it would be this costly, but it summed up the tour in some ways. (Doesn't excuse the umpire for getting it wrong, if it's smashing leg stump it should be given...)
Spoken way too soon...Playing like the WTC champs that they are.
Um.....NZ do.Who needs 4 bowlers anyway? Feck's sake.
YupCan Overton bat all right?
Come on, he just had a couple of cold ales followed by a play fight on the street. That innings was a microcosm of everything good Stokes has ever done. Other than utter nonsense he isn’t a cricketer at all. And other than utter nonsense he isn’t a person at all.
Overton the 3rd England player this century to take wickets and hit a 50 on debut, anyone reckon they can get the others?
1000 internet points on offer for this
Nice one.McGrath and Dawson.
Tbf to the umpire, Wagner didn’t make much of an appeal, I think he might’ve thought the batsman inside edged it.New Zealand have really screwed up the big moments.
