I won’t apologise for hoping people are better than that… just like TJB didn’t apologise for his horrendous post in the first place
Tbf, Trescothick - notwithstanding the later mental health issues - was also renowned for being very fond of his home/missing his home on tour. Now, there's a clear overlap between the two, but it is possible that one could be aware of the former narrative ahead of the latter one - particularly from a non-England perspective.

Very impressive from Mitchell and Blundell again, though England helped out a lot with the catching. Even in these conditions it's great they are both so quick onto anything short - reduces options for the bowlers and could see Potts frustrated that he had so little margin for error.

Mitchell's use of the reverse sweep also impressive - will still look like a dick if he gets out to it, but I think it yielded four boundaries and didn't allow Leach to settle.

I couldn't believe the amount of noise and carry on on this forum and the media about fletcher replacing Blundell, if you actually watch you would see Blundell has the goods and a couple of lean patches won't change that. It's a tad disrespectful tbh, he's gone from the lower middle order to opening and back to the middle order and still a decent enough average. Hopefully it's put to rest now, second rescue job in a row away from home.

It'll be interesting to see how well (or not) England go batting on this placid surface under McCullum.

Anyway, great work from the NZ batters.

His record is sneaky good now. Only real failures were against India in India and that one Bangladesh test. Performed against Australia, England, South Africa. Good away record. Can't complain with someone averaging more than Watling with the gloves.

It's because his name's close to "Blunder" imo

He will probably be more effective than watling going foward tbh, because he's more aggressive.

Getting my chat in so Stead_Cantab#1 can roast me later after a dream dayboo - Phillips and McConchie would be better for the Macewell role. Especially McConchie if you want 5th bowler offies.

This is a huge call. Watling's brick wall/opener at 6 attributes were part of the bedrock for NZ success. He's one of the best ever not called Gilchrist.

I find it hard to believe a regular poster on a cricket forum for a decade would be completely unaware of them though. The "joke" just didn't land.
I can't see how that would be a "joke" in any way? I have no reason to lie, and to reiterate, given that I am well aware of previous discussions on here re. Mental health and prayers like Trott and how they progressed, I'm not dumb enough to express such a controversial opinion openly here even if I did feel that way.

This is honestly the first I've heard anything of Trescothick actually having health issues. The story I've always been aware of was thay he got homesick more than most players and it lead to his early retirement.

Don't go looking for malice in everything, it's a better way to live
