I can't believe I ate the whole thing
On paper we are very good. We have 3 established, world class seamers in Southee, Boult and Wagner, plus a recentish addition who has gunned it but partially having second album blues (Jamieson). Henry is a well experienced first class player and is coming off an excellent home summer. We have the best opener for NZ since Richardson, but who hasn't got great overseas credentials. One of the best batsmen in the world, and arguably our best batsman ever. Another solid, experienced FC bat in Young, and arguably our second best batsman in Devon Conway who blitzed England on debut last year. All these components, when compared to England, should see us as favourites, but there's still some air of uncertainty due to our home summer, some worrying signs from Jamieson, the patchy form of Blundell, and the reluctance to play Patel anywhere that isn't a dustbowl. Combined with the iffy form of an experienced CdG, there's still a few question marks that remain. I like Mitchell as a player and he's exceeded my expectations tbh so I'm hoping that he can really establish himself as a specialist bat by right because he's still in my mind a bit and pieces player who has kept his spot with decent contributions, even though that's not really the case. it's unfair, but he doesn't feel like a "whole" player in the side to me as yet, but this may be the series that he crosses to the other side.NZ is still probably very good. But post-Rossco blues
