Chennai need a clear out especially the oldies.

Dhoni, good bloke, legend etc but he's not up to it anymore. Robbie, Rayudu can also be banished.
MSD is worth the price just for his captaincy + keeping. It's really tough to find good captains in the IPL. Most of these young guys look totally clueless when the game gets a bit tight. Surely they can leave out Rayudu, Uthappa, etc. to plan for the future, but there were other issues that affected their overall standing(Jaddu's captaincy, Gaikwad's form, etc). MSD can play as long as he is fit and his keeping skills are on par.

You need to be able to bang a bit though if batting in the lower order and he can't ,,,to many dead innings from him.

Its a fair point regarding captaincy but a "specialist" captain,,,who is near 40 and in an underperforming team,,,,,dunno tbh.

So DC finish on 158.

It might be enough for their bowlers. If Kuldeep and Axar tie down an end, it might be trouble for MI's batsmen.

The pitch was behaving irregularly when Hritik was bowling his top spinners.

I don't think DC really put a winnable score on the board but they always had a chance with their bowlers. Even when MI batted conservatively at the start, they crucially kept wickets back. Pant had a crazy half hour. Thakur was dreadful in the field. He should have stopped a six and a four. Tim David swung for the hills, mistimed a few, but sheer power cleared the ropes.

Well the difference with MSD is that he is also very sharp as a keeper and guides the bowlers throughout the game. CSK always goes with a lot of all-rounders, wouldn't be a problem if he walks out at number 8 and scores a few bonus runs(he has done well in this series though).

We all saw in yesterday's game, how Pant reacted in a high pressure situation, literally gave away their most crucial game of the series to MI. And he is considered as one of the "better" leaders among Indian youngsters:wallbash: With MSD, you can be assured of a calm presence and pro-active captaincy in high-stakes situations.

Dhoni is clearly a declining cricketer but remains a sharp mind who can handle pressure and hopefully cascade that down to this players. If you're happy with him as a specialist number eight, then you need three or your top seven to regularly bowl a minimum of eight overs. That's going to be a hard side to assemble.

MS has had a poor few years but can we stop acting like he's still a specialist #8 and a lightning quick keeper? He was pretty sloppy behind the stumps by his standards and made 232 runs @ 33 including many match defining innings. His returns this season don't match the 2020-2021 dhoni that came before and the narrative that followed that dhoni needs to be adjusted.

CSK has generally had a floating lower order coz they've always had good all-rounders who can be utilised according to the situation. I don't feel it would be a big problem for them if MSD is hit or miss with the bat, he can bat as low as 8 or just come up the order if early wickets fall to just neutralise the situation.

This post is very confusing, should MSD play the next IPL or not? What's your opinion.
