The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

I could be wrong but I don't think that is supposed to be a 1st and 2nd XI, just 2 teams split apart. There's no way Steve Waugh should be in either of the teams, let alone in the 1st team
Yeah Steve Waugh didn't set the stage apart in ODIs, but his bowling can be useful and that probably is getting him into that team.

Aus 1st XI

Gilchrist (wk)
Watson
Ponting
Jones
Symonds
Bevan
Hussey
Starc
Warne
Bracken
McGrath
This is pretty much what I'd go with. Brett Lee could replace Bracken but that's not much of an improvement. Bevan and Hussey at 6 and 7 is a ridiculous batting line-up.

I would choose Brad Hogg ahead of Warne too but that's just me. I think he was just as good an ODI bowler as Warne but way better in the field + with the bat.

Decent 4th XI (Wade at 8 or open with Wade and pick another bowler) Crazy depth.
Perfect team selection. I will go with this too.

Yes good suggestion. Brett Lee for Bracken will give that extra pace to the first lineup and get it more varied.

I guess I picked Bracken bcos he was so good against us (NZ), but Lee's pace would be a weapon. I guess Warne it is hard to leave Warne out. Without him SA probably would have won the 1999 WC. Can't say that about Hogg.

unless it's a total motorway, putting jason roy in front of glenn mcgrath, shane bond or wasim akram is ending one way.

but i am more than happy for england to give the rest of the world the freebies of roy, plunket etc. i did forget willis which was a whoops.
Tresco being selected is fine, using your logic however was silly.

No one ever does a greatest ever T20 XI, so here you go cricket webbers:

1. M. Rizwan PAK wk
2. B. Azam PAK
3. V. Kohli IND c
4. AB de Villiers SA
5. J. Buttler ENG
6. S. al Hasan BANG ar
7. S. Afridi PAK ar
8. A. Russell WI ar
9. L. Malinga SL
10. U. Gul PAK
11. S. Ajmal PAK

There's a lot of variance in the order that line up could play, also have to mention the likes of Guptill and Finch missing out, but I can't split the greatest ever T20 opening pair. The likes of Munro, Markram and Roy are unlucky to miss out as well.
