Revenge is always sweeter when you have the opposite on the mat before the second strategic timeout.FHK seeking revenge for Jura upstaging ZCC. Sheesh
Nah, I noticed yesterday that there was a coach on the TM with crap skills and he was going for over 10KJust me or are good coaches never available on the TM anymore. Feels like a few months back they were not so uncommon.
I feel coaches are generally undervalued in the Stumped community. The most popular choice of coach is going to be as a Batting or Bowling coach. For an average team you would love a level 10 batting coach for example and ideally he would have no other skills which are costing you money for no usage - then you maximise your bang for your buck.Nah, I noticed yesterday that there was a coach on the TM with crap skills and he was going for over 10K
This is an interesting observation. I haven't put much thought on coaches as you have.I feel coaches are generally undervalued in the Stumped community. So a 'clean coach' is great if he comes on the market - for example batting 4 and 0 for anything else. You can then train him for 6 weeks and hey presto..
So prices that are paid (or people are willing to pay) don't seem to factor in:
A) When a coach is 'clean' - avoiding you ongoing weekly cost to his wage of paying for something you don't use
B ) That every level of skill he has , will cost you an increasing amount of money for training each week if you have to do it from scratch
C) That each of those weeks you need to do B you will need to also pay his increasing weekly wage
D) That if you buy him 'off the peg' from the market place he is 'ready to go' - you wont waste 10 weeks training him , having brilliant youths sitting in your pavilion, who are ripe for training but doing nothing except ageing!
So I think there are real bargains to be had amongst coaches... the only issue is once you have trained your perfect coach it is not like players that you can chop and change, they are a significant investment in time and money, so you are loathe to then pick up a new one (as you also know you wont get back what you spent on him in the 2nd hand market)
One bug that the DEVs haven't fixed is the fact that when old coaches start losing their ability - they retain their wage- you find 50 somethings with some skill level going cheap for some unsuspecting newbie to buy - who thinks they got a bargain for $4k and then find out he is on $40 k a week wage!!
Thanks Moo - well I dunno if that is a good or bad thingThis is an interesting observation. I haven't put much thought on coaches as you have.
It's always fun to get the opinions/perspectives from the other CW members, I agree. Regarding the IGT, I have seen progress from guys with massive potentials, they tend to pop up frequently. Thanks Moo - well I dunno if that is a good or bad thingI reckon we all get different things out of Stumped (and CWC), reflecting that we are probably a pot pourri of different flavours of people if you put us in a real room!
It's nice to have somewhere to share our matches, wins and losses, competitive or friendlies along with ideas, theories and grumbles. Anyway what I've concluded could be absolute rubbish!! but I put it out there as my contribution to our gang !
Here's my biggest head scratcher which I would love to know the answer to and hear from you lot...... Batting IGT - you just need to play 2 matches a week and face 1 ball in each innings and you maximise IGT (it's out there on the forum -via the DEVS but.... it is much more tricky to know what (and how you get it) is needed to maximise your bowling IGT every week - for starters does 1 over of T20 = 1 over of DEV = 1 over of SOD (I imagine not!)
Thoughts would be fascinating!
I watch with increasing desperation my stable of bowling ''horses'' At 16 they set off so fast to maximise their potential but as the finishing line of 22 gets ever nearer they are beginning to pop at the pace of donkeys at the seaside and I worry that all of them (because I'm not maximising IGT) are not going to get to the winning line in time and as a result come 22 they wont be put put to sweet senior pasture, but instead sent off to the Transfer market glue factory!
