Overall package Jadeja edges out for me due to his bowling prowess.

Think team structure also has an effect on things, since Jadeja gets to be like the cherry on top of a solid batting lineup and great bowling attack while Stokes is the 2nd guy after Root holding up the sky while also bowling fast as part of the English attack which can be poor at times.

Jadeja better bowler, Stokes better bat. Both thereabouts so it really depends on what role you need filled in the side.

I suspect stats are in Jaddu’s favour but eye test says Stokes.

I mean if you feel like denying reality that's your prerogative, but India's had one of the best batting lineups of recent times. You just don't see it because bowlers dominating means lower scores in general unless you play in Pakistan.

Probably propped up by Jadeja and co as well as home games to some extent. Wonder what 1-5 averages are across teams in recent times. Suspect we come in after Aus, NZ and Pak.l but should be better than the others.

You're not exactly wrong, but my point was that India's been decent enough that Stokes would love to be someone who could essentially be a Jadeja/ideally Hardik Pandya as conditions dictate where he would be coming in at 6/7 and smacking the ball around while having the ability to build long innings if needed, along with being a solid part of a pretty good bowling attack. And these details can end up affecting statistics of both players indirectly outside of their general personal improvements.

I'm not convinced Stokes is actually a better bat tbh

Whatever it takes!!!
Potential and team role based speculations aside (as there are no real facts there to compare), I think Stokes is a more rounded allrounder who can be a good 5th bowler and 6th batsman in a side. Jaddu is more likely to be a good 4th bowler and 7th batsman in a side. IMHO, the former is the more all-round role. So Stokes is the better allrounder, for me.

Looking at the subjective stuff too, I think Stokes is more likely to win a match with both bat and ball than Jaddu in tests.

I had to change Jadeja to a bowler in cricket 22 to get his bowling up to where it should be but keep his batting at a representative level of his test record, so with this highly scientific approach Stokes must be the guy.
