On this day in 1975 I witnessed my first promotion as a fan of the mighty Greens. That was from the third tier to the second. My little group of school friends who went to matches together were all aged 12 to 15 and we said on the night that we hoped we'd see us in the top division during our lifetime. I'm hoping my funeral isn't necessarily imminent, but I'm at peace with the fact that the top flight isn't happening.

There's an advantage in ties like last night where we got an extra 30 minutes at home. Allowing away goals to count after 120 minutes is an attempt to neutralise that I guess.

Scunthorpe relegated to the Conference. I think they look like the sort of club who might not find it easy to get back. But then I thought the same about Hartlepool and they got back at the second attempt.

We’ve got MK Dons, Wigan and Sunderland and would drop out of the top 6 with three defeats. A win today could have put a bit of pressure on MK Dons for second place as we still have them at home and they play Wednesday tomorrow. For all the “big” clubs in it League is pretty mediocre.

Well I was quite happy about Exeter’s position because they had less to play for than us on Monday and we’re good at home. But now the title is within reach for grecian’s lot ffs.

I know I'm just being ridiculously negative, but I can't help just thinking this would be one of the worst collapses ever us not getting promoted, and hence the worst moment of my footballing history, so I'm hoping for 3 points at your place.

It’s interesting (albeit only mildly) to see Roma in the semi-final of the Europa Conference. If they win there can’t be many, if any, managers who have previously won three different domestic European trophies, excluding the Super Cup. In the previous era when there were three tiers and the hierarchy was European Cup - Cup Winners Cup - UEFA Cup no one obvious springs to mind. I’m almost tempted to Google it but have held out so far.

Ajax, Bayern Munich and Juventus were the only 3 sides who won all 3 competitions when they were all available to play for, and Ajax and Bayern both won the European Cup 3 times in the 70s and won the UEFA Cup in the 90s to complete the set. I know Bayern beat Rangers to win the Cup Winners Cup in 1967, couldn't tell you when Ajax won it although I suspect it may have been the 1980s, I've got a feeling van Basten has a European medal from his time at Ajax which ended around 1987 or 88.

They wouldn't have had the same manager though. Jose would complete the set with Roma if they win it having won the other two with different clubs. Someone else might have done it, but it seems like it would be unusual even given how long some managers have been around.
