*Official* Australia in Pakistan 2022

Been comparing bowling records of the legends in Pakistan, McGrath at his best took 12 wickets in 3 tests at 28.66, Holding never played tests against Pakistan, Roberts took 12 wickets in 2 tests at 26.6, Marshall at his peak took 14 wickets from 3 tests at 16.5, but the pitches in 1986 must have been more conducive to pace bowling to what's been rolled out now. Cummins' 12 wickets at 22.5 is right up there in top 3 bowling performances from a touring side in Pakistan!

Really apart from Haze, the backups are not that strong
I like our seam bowling backup - Richardson looks really good and Boland's just coming off that Ashes - but agree that our batting backups are a bit concerning. No real Plan B too if Head gets found out.

Dale Steyn says hello where even Asif struggled to take wickets.

Head is not a sort of bloke you need to pile on. He is far more likely to contribute with a match winning knock in a low scoring game.

Yeah, but my point is that if these ex-players want to stick the knife in, if they're worth any pinch of **** they should be able to acknowledge when something is done right. There is nothing worse than people in the media who only deal in the brickbats.
Fair enough... but we all know how post 80s Australian cricket is really only about the "boys " and their mateship.
There were quite a lot of people lining up to stick the knife into Cummins et al after the first day of this series - as if the Aus sides of the past didn't have similar trouble taking wickets on totally lifeless subcontinent pitches. Haven't heard a lot from them since....

Whatever it takes!!!

Nostradamus Chappelli.

Called Khawaja cud be good as an opener here but may not work in SL/India.

Called Swepson not quite being a good enough bowler for tests and how Haze is a better bowler, period.

Called Cummins, Babar to be top wicket taker and run maker respectively. Called 1 or 2 draws, and Australia to win.

Umm no. And back then there were no such things as DRS. Not to mention the notoriously biased Pakistan home umpiring. If you took wickets in Pakistan in the 80s, you earned them. Kudos to Cummins for what he's done but let's not get too carried away here.

Isn't the 86 tour where the neutral umpires were introduced?

It's probably one of the more 'deserved' OD selections of recent times. Leading run scorer, strong record.

Trust me, it was far worse in the Windies, England and India during that period and i twas a Pakistani, Imran Khan who first pushed for neutral umpires.

The poster in question likes to ignore the fact that Pakistan was robbed of a historic series win in WI in the 80s because of lolworthy umpiring. This, of course, repeated itself as late as 2001 when Adams didn't know which end of the bat to hold against Wasim.

Yeah but the topic in question was Pakistan in the 80s and back then, the wickets were flat and umpiring biased, like everywhere else.

Lol bullshit it was worse in England. Pakistan's umpiring controversies in England in the eighties are based largely around them not getting their way like they were used to and acting like petulant children. In WI and India? As bad at times, but not worse.

Imran's always been a politician and his suggestions were based around that.
