i'm not a fan of "simply give it to the tonner upper on the winning team", but tonning from eight batting with the tail when you come in at 8 100 odd behind the other team has to get it

to come in at eight a hundred behind in a low scorer on a very bowler friendly pitch and when all is said and done leave a hundred ahead is no mean feat

Watched JdS' knock yesterday and it was even more evidence that Root is basically hopeless as captain. Its one thing to say the system is broken and is not preparing real test cricketers, and its all probably true. But the captain's job is to make the most of his resources and Root is the opposite. He seems to ensure the side is always less than the sum of its parts, even if the sum is not much to begin with.
There's muddled thinking and broken systems in both camps (no idea why Brooks played, for example) but Windies have a better captain and that has really been the difference here IMO.
JdS' knock was absolutely awesome. Showed amazing patience and resolve and when required, very innovative and good strokeplay. Hopefully first of many many more to come. Always liked him as their keeper ever since he came in. Ramdin and Dowrich were promising in their own way and had their share of good knocks but Josh seems more consistent. ?

This guy knows nothing about Josh, who is actually an attacking opener in white ball cricket with lots of shots, but one with the discipline to put them away if required. Mayers took wickets against South Africa and Sri Lanka and of course played one of the ATG knocks just last year.
Your journalists do this every tour. Tbf sometimes even your management does it. You'd think years of getting beaten in the Caribbean would teach them to shut up. But nope, it's every single time.

So I fully understand why we are hated by so many outside of the country in sports and Politics, because the two biggest selling dailes in the world the Heil and the Scum are our avatars to the worlds, and they are utter pondlife, serving people that yearn for a Britain that never really existed.

Watched the highlights... pretty impressed with mayers' bowling tbh. Obviously embarrassing to collapse like that but it wasn't a memey spell. Smart, accurate Collymore-esque bowling with zero pace.
