State Captain
Just when you thought it was impossible to go lower we manage it.A strokeless wonder is going to be our top scorer and he has been dropped.Root must resign today and I do not care who comes in because they can’t be worse than Root as a captain.I thought Collingwood would be a strict disciplinarian but it looks like same old
He's part of the inner circle. They need to get Langer in asap. He won't tolerate this rubbish.

Joe Root is a sub-par captain, it has to be said...but a lot of this is him left to carry the can because the English system has been so severely broken, that it's churning out absolutely hopeless Test batsmen. And he's also operating under a management that has no idea how to assemble its best XI to be on the park.

So I feel sorry for him, in a way. In another world he'd be playing under a better captain, with a coaching/management team that had an ounce of professional nous, with at least one or two batsmen around him to contribute so he didn't feel like the agony and ecstasy of this side didn't depend on him scoring 150+ every time out. Worth remembering that England have won three Test matches in the last 18 months and in all three of those, Root scored 180+.

yeah while i dont rate root's captaincy at all it's got to be a massive drag on both his captaincy and his batting that he's the entire batting order

Great stuff from da Silva. Liked the look of him in the NZ Tests in 20/21. That's a quality innings under real pressure.

Then, on the other hand, England again show less batting resolve than a house of cards made of wet tissue paper. I'm amazed that Root still has the desire to lead this rabble, tbh.

da Silva for MOTM for me. Given the match situation when he came in, I think his contribution is more important than Mayers. Perhaps even Ronnie Irani could have taken a bag against England's batting in this test.
